This set is indeed a fine collection of all the singles that were released at the time they were recorded and certainly fill the gap for many in their search for all the tracks made by Frank Sinatra when he was at his most creative. Its also a virtual hit parade of prime Sinatra from the idealistic decade of the 1950s.
Since this set there have been, however other releases of tracks he recorded at Capitol, a handful mind you, but significant that they were never previously released. The inclusion of the previously unreleased "The Sea Song" and "Here Goes" may have been intended as singles, but remain the only inclusions in this four CD set to stand alone from the rest, because they were never actually released, as singles or otherwise, if you get the logic.
However, no criticism is intended, which brings me to my point; that while its good that many of these singles were put together in one package, most avant collectors will find that three quarters of the contents of this entire set are in fact already and mostly amongst the 20 CD set of his concept albums (including original compilation albums -referring to the superior UK release of "The Capitol Years") which includes the bonus CD "The Rare Sinatra". I have compiled a list of the 'singles' that in my own preference would like to see brought together in one CD, rather than those that are sandwiched between many other tracks as is this 4 CD set, though it still maintains its collectibility For those who haven't the 21 CD set which is rather pricy now having been deleted for some years, this is purely meant as a guide in narrowing down the amount of single tracks that would stand alone as truly collectable.
They are:
The Sea Song, Don't Change Your MInd About Me, Melody Of Love, Two Hearts, Two Kisses, From The Bottom To The Top, You'll Get Yours, Flowers Mean Forgiveness, Five Hundred Guys, Your Love For Me, Can I Steal A Little Love, Tell Her You Love Her, Here Goes.
A more recent previously unreleased rarity not included is "This Can't Be Love" which is only available on (yet another) compilation "Classic Sinatra II" Also, "The Man With Golden Arm" and "Soliloquy" are both only available on the "Sinatra In Hollywood" 6 CD set.
Lastly the alternate (piano only accompaniment) of "One For My Baby" is only on the 3 CD Capitol singles set, and the incomplete "Lush Life" would, as a foregone conclusion never be considered for commercial release.
All in all, 16 truly collectable tracks without a repeat anywhere else except on the afore compilations.
Anything else I might have missed or misconstrued I'm sure someone out there might be pleased to put me right!

This set is an amazing 4 CD collection of all of Sinatra's Capitol records singles. Now the large majority of Singles Sinatra released back in the 50's were not from his albums, which were mainly concept based, so here you'll find a wealth of material you won't find on any studio album ! Where as Sinatra would pick all his material for his albums, Capitol largely gave Sinatra the songs they wanted him to sing for the singles, this was partly so some experimentation could take place, if you've never heard Frank sing early rock n roll and doo wop then this is the album for you !! the other regular singles would be lighter and slightly poppier than his album material, which largely focused on swinging big band numbers and dark love songs. Singles, at the start of Sinatra's Capitol career were still for the most part his bread and butter, It was only with the release of "In the wee small hours" his album career really caught fire.

The set includes hits like "Witchcraft" "Love is the tender trap" "Young at heart" etc but some real rare gems like "Your love for me" "Talk to me" "To love and be loved" " Rain falling from the sky" and many many others are also included. I could list a dozen or so more that are exquisite but i'll leave that for you to find out! Most of Sinatra's Capitol singles were arranged by the genius that was Nelson Riddle and all the musicians, recording dates, arrangers involved and copious recording details can be found in the booklet which is found in the middle of the casing.

The only thing that lets this set down ( and it's only a personal minor quibble) is the large book style casing won't fit on a normal CD shelf, so can't sit next to my other Sinatra albums but this is still an amazing collection.

Fantastic value in one package. There are real gems amongst his Capitol singles that you can't get in any other form
so this is a real find for Sinatrophiles. You are talking over three hours of vocal pleasure with Billy may and Nelson
Riddle arrangements. How can you go wrong ? To get the CD case will cost over £80. With this you get a booklet
and the official CD. Download (You need three blank CDs) and the whole thing costs £18. It's all a question
of money. ....the music's the same.

Here are nearly ninety songs of Frank. They were released as singles. Many had great success. Others were included in the albums. But there are other not memorable. But they are all. The vast majority in mono. Bring a 70-page book written by Friedwald an expert on the music of Frank. Richly illustrated and with the history and technical details of all tunes. Excellent.

Excelente.

Another fantastic opportunity to obtain so much of Frank's work at Capitol as mp3s at a bargain price. Sinatra was without doubt one of the greatest singers of the last century and this collection proves it. It is hard to pick favourites but three stand out ;Don't Worry 'Bout Me , I Could Have Told You and Time After Time. Listen to these and you will begin to appreciate just what an amazing artist Frank Sinatra was.

The years at Capitol were Sinatra at his best. This is a wonderful collection of the 'A' & 'B' sides of Sinatra's singles from this period and there are many lessor know gems in the titles, along with the popular hits. Some of my favourites are 'B' sides like 'Time after time' and 'Something wonderful happens in summer'. A collection to treasure and listen to over again.
