I've always been a big fan of Scythe fans, and my old case was kept cool by two extremely quiet Scythe Kama Flow2 120mm 1400 rpm fans (one intake at the front and one exhaust at the back) and an Xilence Red Wing 80mm fan (an extremely quiet case fan even at full speed, especially for an 80mm one). My old case, however, was an incredibly cheap (£30) generic case bought way back in 2005, and no silent fan could keep this machine quiet.

Last week I finally replaced this ancient beast with a Fractal Design Define R4 silent PC case, which came with two of Fractal Design's own 140mm case fans, one fitted at the front (intake) and one at the back (exhaust). Being unfamiliar with Fractal Design's fans, and being naturally suspicious of manufacturers pushing their own accessories as 'freebies' with their main product, I was expecting having to replace these 'free' fans with Scythe equivalents.

To my pleasant surprise, however, I find them to be at least as quiet as my Scythe Kama Flow2 fans, so I have since ordered another Fractal Design Silent Series 140mm case fan and fitted it in the second slot in the front to keep my seven hard drives cool.

One of the two fans I ordered worked perfectly without any noticeable noise. The other I ordered has a high pitch whine when at full speed. I can install the included low speed adapter but this is just a work around for a product which probably has a fault. Disappointing but I will have to live with it

I have 4 of these running in a high end work station and they're very, very quiet whilst at the same time providing a good deal of air flow. End result is good air cooling without sounding like a hair dryer.

Bought this as an additional 3rd fan for my Fractal R4 case. It works great, it's been fanning away for a few days and it's very silent. Great purchase. FYI, this is exactly the same model of fan as the two that come standard with a Fractal R4 case.

Being the idiot i am i ordered a fan too big for the front of my case (Only uses a 120mm) so i got to do some improv, i fitted the fan inbetween my gpu and my ssd drives, so the cold air is pushed onto the gpu and pulls cold air over my ssds, its strapped down with a twistie, and there is absolutely no vibrations from it at low speed! Its a nice build quality and comes with a low speed adapter, as well as vibration mounts and screws, very nice packaging and lowers my gpu temp by around 4-5 degrees, keeping around 25 idle, under the temperature of the room (its a hot room) overall exellent job and i like the braded cable and no led so it isn't flashy and low profile, i think that £9 is quite expensive for a fan but it does a goid job idle and under load! One gripe is that it is not very clear which way the air blows for begginers, so be wary of that, If you can fit it, I recommend this. I havent run it for a long period so i cannot say if it would be good enough to run an NAS on this and a couple other fans, although it wouldnt be surprising if it could

You need to use the low speed adapter (which comes with the fan) to get "true silence" from this fan. Basically the low speed adapter converts the voltage from 12v to around 7v.
Running at 7v, you can only just hear the fan if you put your ear right next to it.

I installed this in a Coolermaster elite 110 case (mini itx) to replace the noisy 120mm fan it came with.
Highly impressed, great airflow and dead silent, cant fault it. Would recommended to anyone looking to build a quite system.

Regarding installation, the rubber fittings are best, but, a pain to install.
Once most of the rubber fitting is pushed into the fan, I'd recommend using a phillips screwdriver to push the remaining part of the rubber fitting tightly in place.

Great fans, almost zero noise, I use three of them in my case - Would've been 4 but there isn't enough clearance on the roof of my case thanks to the CPU power cable (And I'm not re-routing it around the front, cable management is fine as it is!)

Comes with 4 rubber "screws" and 4 normal screws - I use the normal screws on the roof of my case, I just don't trust the rubber ones with... well, gravity, essentially. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Also comes with what looks to be an "extension cable" ? Could be completely wrong, though.

Some fans give people a headache from the noise they produce when horizontal (ie, on the roof/floor of the case) - no such issues with these.

I have used 6 of these fans throughout my case and on my radiator.

Inside the box you receive:
Screws, black in colour and fit all mounting points on fractal cases and are of suitable quality.

Rubber noise dampening standoffs, good to use where you can but I could only mount one fan with them as they are too difficult to install in thigh corners of your case also don't make much difference to noise.

Low noise resistor, Good quality full black and sleeved. good if you don't have a fan controller but most fractal cases have one built in and they make a mess of any lovely cable management if mounting on your motherboard. Does lower the noise but your better of with a fan controller.

Fan, good looks with the two tone black and white and would fit into most cases. Good pressure output for radiators* (most radiators are 120mm). They output little noise when on half power (500-600RPM), on full power you will notice the noise generated but it is manageable with a good case.
Highest RPM achieved: 1200RPM
Lowest RPM achieved: 500RPM
average RPM: 1000RPM

transition time (1000RPM to 500RPM): 1:10.95
transition time (500RPM to 1000RPM): 0:05.14
Power on time (0RPM to 1000RPM): 0:03.02
Power Off time (1000RPM to 0RPM): 0:13.75
