This is the story of a man with a mission who succeeded and turned his life around
My favourite quote from the book:
"Wherever I end up in 10 years' time will be as a result of what I do each year. What I do each year is made up of what I do each month, and what I do each month is made up of what I do each day."
I was already casually familiar with the exceptional parts of Duane's life story to the extent that he'd already won my genuine respect and admiration for achieving what he had done at KashFlow. And while the blockbuster chapters are incredibly riveting - the drugs bust chapter is genuinely palpable - it's actually the quieter chapters and interactions along the way that shine the most interesting light on Jackson's true character, not least the grit and determination to survive, but to also out-smart a destiny that would have been the likely end of most people in his shoes.
The only negative is that the writing is sometimes a little slow, often during the bits where the action should be ticking along. Despite this it is definitely worth reading, and I would recommend it.
