In 1884, Paul Jones Jr, moved his thriving business to Louisville, Kentucky, where he opened an office in "Whiskey Row." Four years later, he trademarked the name Four Roses, claiming production and sales back to the 1860s.
Four Roses is the only Bourbon Distillery that combines five proprietary yeast strains with two separate mashbills to produce ten distinct Bourbon Recipes, each with their own unique character, spiciness, and rich fruity flavours.
When it comes to aging, Four Roses don't rush to get out and the extra time in the barrel not only adds a deeper flavour, but also allows the whisky to become more mellow.
For four out of the last five years, Four Roses has been voted 'Best US Whiskey Distillery' by Whiskey Advocate magazine and have consistently won best in class in their respective bourbon categories. In 2012 the Limited Edition Small Batch was voted 'best American whiskey', a tribute to the care and attention that goes into producing our exceptionally mellow bourbons, and to the skill of our master distiller Jim Rutledge.

One thing to note is the flavor is great but its not the smoothest I have tried. If you are after a super smooth whiskey then look elsewhere.
However I do socially drink - and I have to say I've not encounter bourbon that smells (perfumed?) so well, you almost don't want to drink it and just smell it! Tastes great too, again not a fan of whiskey/bourbon but this tastes good to me.
So I have to say this is what I will be buying going forward, both for myself and present for very good friends; there may be better stuff but for me this is great.
I am usually a Buffalo Trace drinker, not a fan of Knob Creek or Woodford Reserve, and this bourbon is definitely suited to my palate and by far the smoothest 45% ABV bourbon I've tried. If you like your bourbon neat, this is not necessarily going to be a top choice. However, if you like a bourbon-forward cocktail such as an old fashioned, manhattan or mint julep it mixed and holds up exceptionally well.

Excellent value Bourbon - there's not many spirits out there that deliver this amount of bang for your buck. Highly recommended.Published 9 months ago by Grant R
Very drinkable, I think this is more of an easy sipping drink than the single barrel Four Roses, yet it still retains complexity and interest. Dangerously easy to finish.Published 19 months ago by jrp
