There are also useful cautions about the dangers of exploring this fascinating coastline; I have lived in the area now for a couple of years and have seen for myself just how easy it is to underestimate the quickly changing nature of the cliffs and shoreline.
I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in fossils who is considering visiting the area.
The author has taken an honest approach and wastes no time by informing the reader where to find, how to look and what you might reasonably expect to find along the beaches around Lyme Regis and Charmouth. Squarely aimed at families and group leaders the author has taken a responsible attitude towards safety by offering sensible suggestions on avoiding hazardous areas of Lyme Regis.
Overall the book aims to give you a glimpse into the Early Jurassic world, describing the life's and trials of the fossils that can be found along the beaches. In addition the book provides the reader with a foundation understanding on how the cliffs you see today have formed which is essential if you want to be the next Mary Anning!
