Modern life and work pulls us all in a million different directions
How can we take charge?
With the Foscam FI9900P, you can pull everything together, in one place - check in on your front gate or porch, backyard, driveway, shed, storefront, parking lot, loading dock, even your construction site, right in the palm of your hand.
IP66 weatherproofing ensures that the FI9900P keeps recording without damage or interruption in rain, sleet, or snow. Instant access and remote viewing by mobile app means that you never have to wonder again if your property is safe: juggling life's responsibilities just got a lot easier.
The FI9900P is more than a security camera
We've made security both simpler and more versatile than ever before: stay connected to what you care about and never let an important event slip by, no matter where you are.
Your video is securely streamed in stunning 1080P detail, making it feel like you're there, and 2-Way Audio lets you participate in the moment, not merely watch it. Receive alerts with our app - you'll know when someone is right on your doorstep - and respond to events as they happen. Our recording choices also let you preserve footage how you want, when you want. Local storage is free (no monthly fees).
Reliability, value, and intelligence are our gold standards
Foscam wouldn't be an internationally recognised brand in security, for over 10 years running, if we didn't understand that reliability, value, and intelligence are all three necessary for making an outstanding security camera.
The FI9900P features enhanced night vision (up to 65 feet) and is equipped with highly sophisticated digital zoom (magnifies up to 8X). Say goodbye to straining and guessing at blurry, grainy, or poorly illuminated scenes: you'll enjoy crisp, well illuminated footage in true 1080P HD. Our smart alert and motion technology even avoids false alarms (e.g. plants swaying in wind).
True professional HD video quality.
Foscam build its own hardware in-house, ensuring exceptionally solid build quality with no cut corners. The result is a truly professional HD 1080P stream offering incredible density of detail at a value that is unrivaled in the home security market.
Unlike cameras with plastic housing and seals, which may malfunction during storms or deform and lose their protection, the FI9900P has a tough aluminum shell. It is built to perform in severe weather without damage, interruption, or footage loss, and the IP66 standard is rated for protection against heavy rain, sleet, and snow. With our outdoor models, you can rest assured that they are made to outlast any hazard that nature throws at them.
See through total darkness
Night vision is one of the areas where higher quality hardware makes the most difference. The FI9900P's enhanced night vision uses high-intensity IR LEDs that illuminate details in crisp, clear night vision up to 65 feet away. Functions such as app push alerts and smart motion detection especially benefit from better night vision: the alerts are more sensitive and relevant, and this advantage is further enhanced by an intuitive app interface for customising your motion sensitivity and alert settings.
No expensive monthly fees
Choose and pay for only what you need: we believe in offering a full suite of storage options. You can send and store video by FTP, absolutely free, and we even support NVRs (not included), NAS, and local hard drive recording. Our affordable Foscam Cloud service is also available to safeguard your footage from theft or damage by recording it to our secure Cloud (30-day trial included).

Top customer reviews
1) The Fl09800P does not have the ability to take a micro SD card. The internals of the camera are NOT the same, even though they appear identical on the outside.
2) The field of vision with the Fl9900P is far wider than with the Fl9800P. The difference is very important if you are using this camera to monitor, say, the front of your house. I am now able to monitor more of my front drive and lawn and that's a good thing. Also, the increased resolution makes a noticeable difference.
Out of the box I had a notification to update the firmware. Using the web based interface I notice the camera now has a WDR option. This is basically HDR and brings out the darker parts of a scene. A good feature, however during night vision it introduces noise to the image.
The only thing I am struggling with is setting the zones for monitoring movement. On the previous camera it showed a grid over the picture and you could click on the squares you did not want to be included in motion detection. With this one you don't have the grid and I can't seem to select or deselect which parts of the scene I want included in motion detection. This may be an issue with Safari on the Mac so I plan to try it on my Windows 10 laptop...if I can find its charger.
I chose this model as it is rated ipv60 and the aluminium body means it should stand up better to the elements as my house is in a rainy wind swept location near the sea.
The camera is well made and small enough to look unobtrusive when mounted high up. First thing I did was insert a 32GB SanDisk micro sd card. That meant removing screws on the front using the supplied Allen key.
CONNECTING TO MY LOCAL AREA NETWORK (Wireless)
To connect the camera via its internal web server to my router’s LAN using wifi I downloaded the blue Foscam Viewer app on to my android tablet, a Samsung Tab 3 8 inch. Ran the app and followed the instructions which require you to scan the QR code that is on the underside of the camera. Your tablet needs to have a forward facing camera to do this. Here's a tip. Take a photo of the camera’s QR code and save it to your computer. There is no camera QR code on the packaging and should you have to do a hard reset (as I had to do several times!) you don't want to have to get a ladder and climb up to your camera to scan its QR code especially when it's dark or raining as my camera is mounted outside at the apex of my garage wall. Simply scan the code you have saved on your computer. Once connected it will display the camera view. However I ran into a snag. The FI9900P by default has the port number 88. As one of my other cameras already used this port number my router had trouble finding the new camera. The solution was to change the port number and in my case I found it easier to keep the FI9900P’s original port number (esp if you have to do a hard reset it will default back to 88) as it was quicker and less hassle to change the port number of the FI8910W. Once connected I downloaded and installed the latest firmware.
Camera quality is excellent, better than my FI8910Ws and you can vary the quality according to the bandwidth. The FI8910W though tends to retain colour longer in low light before switching to night mode.
MOUNTING THE CAMERA
This is where the camera lost one star. There are 5 connectors (audio in and out, Ethernet, reset and power each with its own lead) that are connected to the camera via a thick rectangular terminal block that measures 2cm at its widest. This block is then connected to the camera via a single lead. You need to drill a hole that is at least 2.3mm diameter to get the mass of wires through the brick wall. To make matters worse the wires are short (about 5ft) so I had to use an extension lead to plug in the power supply (and a ladder if I had to do a hard reset). I believe Foscam USA sell a junction box (you can use an ordinary electrical box) that solves this problem but I did it the hard way.
Took me a while to figure this out and I had to download the user manual to find out how to enter the correct settings.
The camera comes with its own DNS domain so once you set it up on your router’s port forwarding (in my case a BT Home Hub 5) you can access the camera anywhere in the world from your smartphone or tablet without having to pay monthly DNS fees.
The software for this camera is surprisingly poor for Foscam and lost it another star.
The Foscam Viewer allows you to set image quality, view and talk (if you have audio connected), take snapshots, record, rotate view, set night vision and view other information. There is no access to the alarm zone settings. To fully access the settings require you to log in to the camera using your computer. On my Windows 10 PC the camera’s browser software/webpage does not work properly with Chrome or Windows 10 MS Edge. These only show two tabs ie Live View and Settings. Using Firefox the browser brings up a 3rd tab called Playback which allows you to play back previous recordings by date using a calendar. Also using Firefox browser the Motion Detection setting in the Settings tab has an additional function that is not available if you use Edge or Chrome – this has a button which brings you to a screen that allows you to set your detection zones, albeit you can only set a maximum of 3 zones. There are no instructions on how to set the zones, I had to work it out. Even so, changing the settings was very hit and miss. The motion trigger alarm would stop working each time I changed the settings which caused me no end of frustration. Once it stopped working no amount of working with the software would make it come on again and the only solution was to do a hard reset and start from scratch again. The day I left for Japan the motion detection stopped working because that morning I stupidly made a change to the sensitivity. Disgusted I left for my trip. Imagine my surprise a few days later while in Kobe I started receiving emails with photos from the camera – the motion alarm had woken up! Maybe the software on this camera takes a few days to respond! I certainly never had the same trouble with my two FI8910Ws.
Sensitivity – I find the camera is too sensitive even at the low setting. Movement of bushes, birds and even rain would set it off and some days while away I received over a 50 emails a day. Just beware that Google only allows you 15 GB of memory space! I had not set the zones before I left home and by default the software was responding to the entire screen area, I still have to find the optimum settings.
As a standalone camera using wired Ethernet it is easy to set up and use. For wireless use there needs to be an improvement in the software. Great camera, once the software is sorted out.
