Roger Black and his partner are the homicide detectives. They have a particularly nasty killer on the loose, and he is targeting a certain type. He is also staging the kills like BDSM scenes.
Can Roger, with the help of Leena's gift find who is responsible before the body count goes up. ?
A really good Murder/Mystery. I thought the killer was someone else entirely. Our hero is doing his best ,but has very little evidence to help him. Our heroine is very brave ,but somewhat out of her depth. This is a strictly adult read. The descriptions of the kills are graphic and so are some of the sex scenes. This book will keep your attention from the first to last page. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Wow, what a different read. I love a book that brings me a really unusual story with mystery, intrigue, super hot chemistry and drama.
Leena moves in with her aunt and is looking forward to helping in her psychic shop. Although, things don't go quite how she planned, within a few days her aunt is murdered and everything her aunt had is left to Leena. Soon another murder happens and Leena is drawn to using her psychic gift to help find who is responsible. Can Leena find her aunts murderer and whilst keeping herself safe ?
A really great read, which kept me captivated throughout, I secretly wished Roger would be more of a Dom and that there was more to the BDSM element though the book, this book has potential to be much longer and juicier! However, having said that it's a great quick read, that kept me intrigued to the very end. This is my first read by A J Storm and it won't be my last.

Her mother was a gypsy and her father a hell and brimstone preacher.
The life Leena leads is not an easy one. Her mother passed when she was young leaving her to live with a zelot father would not accept the amazing daughter he had causing Leena to have low self esteem.
She moves to New Orleans to live with her aunt, and is caught up in a murder spree, and the world of BDSM.
This book is not for the faint of heart, but if you love BDSM and detective stories this is a book for you.
Once I started reading I couldn't stop.
I am already looking forward to starting Fortune's Daughter book two in the series.
The mystery is amazing. I felt like I was in a maze at times. Just as I thought I had it figured out who did it…a wall was thrown in my thought path and I was off on a new direction! The ending just blew me away! I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I said “Are you kidding me?” and “Really?” out loud while I was reading it. I even had one or two “Oh no you didn’t!” moments too!
It is a full standalone novel. However, there are some questions left unanswered which do not take anything away from the story line. I am hoping that AJ has plans for another book to answer these questions.
A job well done! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for something different and intriguing.
I like that the story took people who are not normally main characters (fortune tellers with a real gift, wiccans, bohemians) and focused on them instead of more "normal" people The romantic relationship was good, and the sex scenes were pretty hot. The dialogue and Leena's inner monologue were good, especially the flirting and the banter between her and her romantic interest
I think Leena's reaction to being introduced to the world of BDSM clubs and scene play was very well done. The story was told, the characters were who they were, and at no time did you get the sense that the author was trying to preach at you or persuade you about anything and that is admirable..
I love it when an artist deliberately blends, breaks, or ignores genre. Is this story a thriller? Is it an erotic romance? Is it paranormal?
The story dragged on with unnecessary detail in some places (we didn't really need the play by play of Roger making an omelette, for example). Stock and cliched phrases (dressed to nines, moving like a freight train, etc.) left me frowning as I read. I found the motives of the antagonists, when they were revealed, to be unbelievable. Maybe other readers are fine with it, but I was disappointed.
Overall, I'd say if you're looking for something different, dark, hot, and thrilling, Fortune's Eyes is worth a read.
