Peter Goullart gives us the most beautiful, strange and vivid picture of this distant land (Observer)
Peter Goullart describes, with immediacy and detail, his time, from 1939 to 1947, in Likiang in the idyllic southwestern province of Yunnan on the borders of Tibet. His experiences and friendships brought him into contact with Lamas, the merchants, the bandits, and the Tibetans.See all Product description

The print is not compromised and so that is all that matters for me with this particular book.
Forgotten Kingdom id about the life and times of Lijiang a town in western China. We visited Lijiang earlier this year and retraced the steps of some of the plant hunters of the twentieth century.
The book complements our beautifully giving insights into a world so nearly vanished and yet just discernible under the veneer of modern China.
