Product Description

Review

Hauntingly atmospheric and utterly compelling... this is red-blooded fantasy writing at its best. Great heroes, terrible enemies, powerful magic... and two more novels to come! Who could ask for more? (DAVID GEMMELL)

A good read which should whet the appetite for the second book of the trilogy. (THE STATESMAN)

There is intrigue and betrayal a plenty here... competently written. (STARBURST)

An imaginative debut (Time Out)

Book Description

The first book in the epic Lightbringer series, from one of Britain's most exciting fantasy authors.

First and the best book in a great trilogy. very vivid in te description of charaters and landscapes thus raising it up above the more trashy fantasy novels that are churned out recentally. Though it would be fair to say this book is not as good tolkiens work apart the simarillion but is however a work unto itself. The sheer depth of this world created shows that alot of thought went into the writing. however the book does credit david gemmel for 'helping' it is clear that he has had a major impact upon the book. It follows three charaters thrown together by fate to stop an unamaginal evil (vapyrs) for killing everyone including themselves. Sound like david gemmmel, yes.

I was recommended this book by my local bookseller saying it has had some good reviews, i though 'why not' - i am glad i did!
The characters are strong and believable, great acton scenes, powerful magic (as already quoted!). It has a somewhat old fashioned storyline but with writing like this it doesn't matter.
Put it this way - I have just ordered the other 2 books in the series!

Take no heed towards the negative comments about this great story by Oliver Johnson. In fact I purchased the book years ago ( 3 in series) and was very impressed with it then.
Its a dark and gothic like tale. So am looking forward to reading the series again now it's on kindle..Give it a try you will not regret it!
