I feel as though I've been mislead by the influence of the cover. I've got half way and I'm giving up. It's a fairy story -so unlikely and so slow. I don't really care what happens to the character in the future. Enid Blyton in my youth held much more intrigue. I give it 2 stars because I enjoyed the discription of the garden.

I usually adore Katie Flynn books and have done so since I was a young teenager. Unfortunately, I found 'The Forget-Me-Not Summer' to be a huge disappointment. To me, it was tedious and rambling and quite frankly very boring!

The main character, Miranda was irritating - selfish, over-emotional and whiney. I actually gave up on this book 3 quarters of the way through and for me, that is a rarity, especially where Katie Flynn books are concerned.

One day Miranda wakes up and her actress mother Arabella is gone. Suddenly Miranda's life is changed forever. Forced to live with Aunt Vi and cousin Beth, both who treat her badly. After some time Miranda meet Steve a local boy. This meeting both Steve and Miranda close friends. Steve promises to Miranda look for her missing mother. But soon the war come and there is a chance that both Steve and Miranda will survive.
"The Forget-Me-Not Summer" is the lastest hardback book by Katie Flynn and it was really great. As always Ms.Flynn gives her readers rich and interesting characters that keep the reader's interest. A book by Katie Flynn should not be missed by any fans of sagas.

I was really bored reading this story, it was so slow featuring two young children's exploits which dragged on and on and the only thing that kept me reading it was that I wanted to know what happened to the missing mother and I shouldn't have bothered. The end was one big disappointment, I wouldn't recommend this book I am afraid.

I am 45% through the book which is a full story based around young teenagers. As I am almost halfway through I would have thought it had some association with the cover - but not one sight or sound.

Loved the story of a child who grew up to become a loving young woman despite the hardship she had to endure through no fault of her own. It was wonderful to read and it showed that a person can have a good life regardless of poor background and that life is what you make it.

This book was a very enjoyable read. It showed all the hardships of the not so well off people and how they coped with very little. Miranda had not been used to these hardships and had to soon get used to living a very different life without her mother. I liked the way the friendship developed between Miranda and Steve and their adventures when they were young.

The ending was rather unexpected but looking back I think it was appropriate.

This was a good book.

This is the second book by Katie Flynn I have read, feel the story had some merit but it had such a silly and poor ending. After looking for her mother for a few years to then just walk away when she found her without finding out why she left was just stupid. I like stories set around the 1st & 2nd World Wars but this was far from being the best.
