This is the sixth book I've read in McDonald's Hector Lassiter series and like all the ones before, its just a great story. Note that this is the first Lassiter that does not feature Hollywood movie star cameos or cameos from various literary figures. Although i love the Hollywood stuff and the more historical bent of the others in the series, this book was completely enjoyable -- though I wouldn't start with this book. Start with Torsos and Torsos.

Hector Lassister is back and this time he's in Key West with his lady love, Brinke. While various historical personages are mentioned in passing, this time it's just Hector, Brinke and Hector's uncle Beau who are the prime actors in the story, along with McDonald's usual fascinating crew of supporting players. The story is soundly constructed and, as with all McDonald books, the writing is crisp and evocative. Well worth reading.

I Love the series but have to say that the book could have ended a few chapters sooner.
