At first I thought this was another 'settling into Spain' book, and what a pleasant surprise it was. Yes, it is a work of fiction, but it encompasses the best and worst of the British expatriate attempting to settle into a new country while still hanging on to everything they left behind at home. I really enjoyed this book there were plenty of laughs and it kept up a good pace. A light, read with an original slant. I would recommend this and hope to read more by this author.

A rollicking good read! I live in Orgiva and downloaded this book to my kindle whilst away in Turkey. Reading this put me straight back home. I could smell the air of fiesta and picture all the various characters as if in real life. It is one of those books that you can't put down because it it such good fun and the characters are so precisely depicted. Thank heavens I live here and not in Pueblo Blanco by the sea. Take Chris Stewart, Annie Hawkes and Peter Mayle, give them a good mix, a whiff of jasmine or herbs and a couple of glasses of something strong and you're almost there.

We have a house just up the road from Mr Luddington, and his description of house purchase in Spain, and of the environs of Órgiva, just ring so many bells with us. We avoided the anglicised Costas and went straight for the rural Alpujarras, and so glad we did. If 'Forever England' is fiction it's based very much on reality and experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to know a bit more about the area, let alone just wanting a great read, which it certainly is.

Laugh-out-loud tale of rural Spanish living. As a lover of the true Spanish countryside, I found this book heartwarming and quite delightful. I was sorry it ended, as I felt the story could have been carried on with how they faired in the winter months, after all the fiestas etc had all been and gone. I hope there is another book to carry on where this left off.

I really enjoyed this book. I was casting around on the Kindle cheapies, read the blurb and decided to get this and was very glad I did. I wasn't quite sure, whilst reading it, if it were fact or fiction as Mr Luddington's easy self deprecating style makes it like he was sitting down at the bar in Orgiva telling you all the mad things that had happened to him !
The book tells the story of an English family who decant themselves abroad to the English "haven" of Bahia Blanca and whilst the rest of the family are happy with the "Watneys Red Barrel, chips and tea like mother makes it" lifestyle of the ex pat community the main character decides that this is not why he came abroad, ends up buying a ruin in the mountains and involving himself in the local community.
It's a very gentle comedy - extremely well written and I have no hesitation in giving it five stars as I was actually very sad when I finished the book.
I shall be exploring his books further

Forever England follows Terry England as he embarks on an adventure to owning a villa in Spain during his retirement. He finds himself drawn to the more English aspects of it all and decides to find a ‘New Spain’ where he can feel at home. He finds in Aplujarras where he finds love, laughs and a happy life. Forever England is a really entertaining book filled with humour and funny moments. The characters are very much likable as well as being well developed which is one of the great things about this book. This book really lifted my mood with its witty yet genuine humour. I really enjoyed reading it and I would definitely recommend it.

On starting this book for the first few chapters I find it to be quite adventurous in fact quite boring but as the main character goes on a different direction the story develops extremely well full of life and good humour, it's a pleasure to have read.Recommended

Really good read.Set to be a Brits aboard type travel story but turned into a love story. The man never really spent much of his married life with his wife. When they where forced together following his retirement he quickly realized his wife had a different outlook on life.He found love with a free spirted lady and turned his back on the tradition expat existence in the Costa's.
