"Forbidden" has characters that were introduced in "Untamed", one of the best historical romances I've ever read. "Forbidden" is just as good. I alternate reading romance with suspense and mystery so it's been awhile since I picked up a hist. romance. Well- this was a great one to choose! Amber and Duncan are two characters who really come to life. You feel as if they were real people. The romance is lovely, the sex is great (typical Lowell), the action moves the story along at a terrific pace. The little pet names they have for each other get a bit annoying ("my dark warrior", "my golden witch") but hey!! It can't be perfect! All in all, terrific reading! Read "Untamed" first, then this one. "Enchanted" comes next but I must say that I didn't like this one nearly as much (the story of Ariane and Simon). As others have said, Lowell should write a story about Erik, the last of the "big strapping warriors" in this series. Maybe she will.

*WOW* What a book! I've just read FORBIDDEN in one day. This is my first E.L book but i can assure you it will not be the last. She has a unique writing style seldom seen in romance novels, so moving and so intense.i loved the characters, especially Duncan, he was so strong yet totally vulnerable, the ideal man, maybe? I have bought the other two books in this trilogy and i can't wait to read them. If you have nothing to do on a cold, miserable English evening grab this book and get stuck in, you won't be disappointed.

This was such an outstanding book!!!
It really grabbed hold of you and didn't let you go till the very end! You felt if you were part of their lives and it was heartbreaking to go through all the pain with them but ohhhhhhh what a story.
Do yourself a favour and read this one, I am a big fan of Medieval romances and this one has to be one of the best ones I have read so far.

I loved this book from the first page to the last. From the time you open the book until you read the last page you won't put this book down. You find yourself so involved that you become the character. Amber, must fullfill a prophecy , a man with no name may she claim, in shades of darkness he will come. Meet the man that is her prophecy and read their story. Become part of the "ancient times" the time of seers and ruin stones and secret forrests. This is the best book that I have ever read and I have almost a library of romance books. The only thing that I ask of the author is to please write Erik's story? The finishing book on an outstanding series.

I thought it was absolute drivel. Badly written tosh! I persevered with a couple of chapters, then couldn't take any more. I bought Enchanted too, but shan't bother with that. They will be consigned to the charity shop forthwith. Try Elizabeth Chadwick - miles better!

For all of those searching for Erik's story ... there will soon be a contemporary book released *Moving Target* in which the main topic will *the Book of the Learned* an Illuminated Book and Erik's story.
Serena Charters inherits a page and meets Erik North a calligrapher of great skill. a man who understands the past, a man who believes that some things are worth dying for-or killing for, if it comes to that. The Book of the Learned is one of those things.
Together, Serena and Erik uncover a past that is more than they bargained for, a present that is filled with danger, and a future that is as compelling as the Book of the Learned. All they have to do is survive. (EL newsletter)
Ah and Lawe will be a sidecharacter for all Donovan fans.

I have read many of Elizabeth Lowell's novels and I have always liked them. However of all of her novels I don't think any can compare to forbidden. I cried with pleasure. Duncan is a total alpha male. However he is also kind and sensitive. Amber is a woman in love but definitely not a doormat. When circumstances force him to be a jerk, she absolutely does not stand for being his second best. For once the hero suffers just as much as the Heroine. It makes you actually hope he recsues her. You just know his life will literally end if hers does.In a word this book is untouchable

This is the second in Lowell's trilogy and it is wonderful. I read "Untamed" first and then I read this book in ONE DAY...it was that good. The story of Duncan and Amber had me hooked from the first page..what a tale! You actually felt like you were living in this time period with them. I can't pick a favorite of the trilogy but "Forbidden' ranks up there at the top. I hope a fourth book is made!
