I didn't really gel with this book. It didn't rock my boat and regardless of the twists and turns in the book it really didn't have me on the edge of my seat. On the other hand I didn't hate the book either, so I guess I'm a bit of an inbetweener with this one.

I like the way the author has written a love story about `mature' adults. Although saying that there is no confirmation on age only that Laney has teenage kids and Chance has been married 6 years, so at least Chance is 25 and Laney is somewhere in her 30's. It' still makes a refreshing change.

I did like how the author highlighted has highlighted issues surrounding being in an unhealthy relationship and the effect it has on those around you, even if you think you're doing your best to hide it.

The book has a lot of positives but also has quite a few negative. I've already been through some of the positive's above. One of the main issues for me was the dual POV. I love a book that is told in dual POV but not when it is relaying the same scene almost word for word, I found that to be quite repetitive. I found it difficult to connect with the characters and I think that was because we didn't get personal enough with them, for example their age. I felt like an interloper skimming over someone's life rather than being a part of that life.

Like I said the book wasn't bad, it just didn't do it for me.

Forbidden Forever by Christy Dilg
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review

It took me some time to get to grips with this read. It was a bit all over the place.
I've held onto this book for some time, I read one half of it a few month back and came across it tonight, so I decided to finish it.

I think it has a lot of potential in my humble opinion and the concept of the story is a good one.

Expanded, this could be a very good read, this is not a very long book so doesn't take that long to read. .

Forbidden Forever is a masterfully written very touching story. From the very beginning of the novel the magnetic quality of Chrisy’s pen binds the reader’s heart and soul. Once I started the novel I could not put it down. The characters speak to the readers. They are full of life. The intelligent use of powerful language never allows the interest in novel go down. The twists and turns and the skilled way to present the happenings makes the work unique. I have loved this work. I recommend it to every one who wants to read a story brimming with life and vitality. The impact of the novel stays long after we close the book. A five star read. Purchase it today.

HASH(0x9c84a4c8) out of 5 stars Not sure about this one 12 Oct. 2013

Forbidden Forever should have been better than it was. It has all the components of a great read, but the author could not put it together in the best way. We have two people,Laney and Chance, married to others, embarking on a torrid affair. Laney is married to an abusive jerk, but he only has one point of view to explain and he just goes on about how much he loves her,not why he calls her fat,or if he's cheating on her,(it was suggested). To me there is not enough about him, although they have been together since she was 18. Chance is married to his best friend, who first wants him to be happy with Laney, but towards the end of the book, loses her ever loving mind and attempts murder. The part that really gets me is how all of their luck seems to just change when Laney and Chance finally gets together. The kids are singing stars and surfing champions, Laney owns a bar,(although she never indicated that she wanted to own one anywhere in the book). Chances parents, who always wanted him with his first wife, are now besties with Laney. Just all too much happily ever after and not enough angst. Not sure if I will read a sequel to this. I hope the author can make the next one a more realistic read.

HASH(0x9c84a714) out of 5 stars I must have missed something... 6 Oct. 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

Book had possibilities, but ended up leaving me skipping chapters, unsatisfied, annoyed and with less money.

***SPOILERS**
First, the book was full of the same exact story being told my the H and h. It was completely pointless and annoying. Why read 10 pages of the exact same story being told by two different people with maybe one or two tiny nuances? Utter waste of time and therefore, caused me to skip half the book (every other chapter). It did get a little better midway through.

Second, too much of going to cry to the parents. WTH?! These are suppose to be grown a** adults and they have to solve their problems by talking to the parents and telling on each other? Really?!

Third, the argument that because he did all these great things for me when I was down and out, makes me love him - of course the white knight syndrome. Not that he is a man of substance. True lack of character development and understanding of the depths of a healthy relationship. I understand h did not know what a good relationship entailed, but it still made for a weak argument to the mother on the author's behalf.

Definitely the first-book issues and somewhat immature writing. Expect writing will get better with experience.

HASH(0x9c84a6d8) out of 5 stars Story was too rushed. 13 Oct. 2013

I'm not sure how to feel about this story. The story was too rushed and there wasn't enough time to understand and feel a relationship with the characters. There was potential, but the author just needed to develop the story more, take more time for the characters to have a backstory.
