From the first time Lily appeared in "Complicate Me" I loved her and couldn't wait for her story. Once again M Robinson has delivered a truly wonderful book that covers every spectrum of emotion and I loved it.

Lily is the younger sister that has followed the good ole boys around since she could crawl. Jacob watched who grow into a young adult and always saw her for more than his best friend’s sister. Lucas made it clear that his friends were off limits to Lily but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants. Being seven years old, Jacob waited. He knew it was wrong to think of Lily for more than anything than Lucas’s sister but he couldn’t help her. With every year he watched her blossom he knew she was off limits. He would fight their attraction until the day he could no longer fight it.

This story is told in dual POV as well as from past to present. It connects to the timeline in Complicate Me and for me it worked really well. There is an underlying suspense / mystery through the book that you as a reader can't wait to find out what happened to Lily and Jacob being apart for 3 years and her hating him so much and these glimpses from past to present feed that anticipation.

Lily is a great heroine. She is funny, full of life, quick witted and her smart arse comments are brilliant. She loves fiercely, is head strong and stubborn at times and when she was in pain and hurting I felt it too.

Jacob was a complete surprise. I had no idea he was so possessive and dominant!! He was a lawyer and boy did he have a way with words. I loved his confidence and they way he wouldn't take no for an answer from Lily when he FINALLY couldn't stay away from her anymore.

Carrying on from where then first book left us but this one flips between present and future and is told in a dual POV. It tells of the forbidden love between Jacob and Lilley (Lucas's little sister). Apart from being the sister of one of his best friends, there's also the 7 year age difference to overcome.

Again this spans a couple of decades as they start their journey of forbidden love, fighting the attraction they have for each other.

I loved complicate me from the very start and I was intrigued to hear Jacob's story. I devoured this book in a day. I completely lost track of time! This story runs concurrent with Lucas and Alex's story so it does repeat itself slightly but is necessary as the 5 main characters lives are interwoven through the time frame.

I love M. Robinson's style of writing and this is the first series I have starting reading by her and I will definitely be reading her other series. She writes gritty, down to earth characters. It's also a coming of age romance.

Whilst the book is promoted as being a stand alone, I would suggest reading them all in order due to the fact that the lives of the characters do spill over in to the other books.

Loved loved loved this book and I would definitely read again.

This is the second book in the series, and it doesn't disappoint. This story is Jacob and Lilly's.
The book travels back and forth from then to now, telling the story of the love these two have had for one another for as long as they can remember.
Jacob has quite a few years on Lilly, so this proved very problematic for the two of them, even though it never came across that way for me with Lilly. Jacob struggled a lot throughout the story with his feelings. Trying to do the right thing for everyone.
Their story is by no means an easy one, it had me feeling all kinds of emotions whilst reading it.
You have to read to find out if their love can stand the test of time.
But I'll tell you this I loved everything about it, it totally had me intrigued to find out if they would be together.
M Robinson has a way of writing these books that you can't stop thinking about them, you need to know if the characters will be ok, because you find yourself attached to them and their lives.
I love these books and can't wait for the third instalment.
I'm sure...No I know it will have me unable to think of anything else.
I already love all the Good Ol' Boys they keep me wanting more.

Forbid Me is the second in the series of The Good Ol' Boys. Each book focuses on a different couple, but it does help to read each book in order. As you get back some of the story in each book.

So when starting I was unsure if I was gonna like Jacob, because I thought of him as a hypocrite after everything with Bo & Half-Pint, but the more I read on the more I realise I love him.

You get all the angst again from Complicate Me, but it's different this time. Forbid Me is told from the past and present times, both from Jacob and Lillian(Lily's ) points. This sees Lily being in love with of one her older brothers best friends, that's one problem, but there is also the age gap. Jacob had been around Lily since she was a baby, he watched her grow up, then when his feeling changed his love grew into a different kind of love, one he struggled to deal with.

We get a wee insight into Forbid Me at the end of Complicate Me, however nothing could prepare you for all the feeling this book would envoke. You find out how Jacob and Lily spent the three years apart, and you get the back story of their relationship. You see Lily growing up into a brilliant sassy woman, you see her deal with something heartbreaking that was also prominent from Complicate Me, but most of all you see her deal with her love of Jacob, even with all the hurt she never stops loving him.

Jacobs back story is also heartbreaking, which is why it endears you to him so much. The turmoil of falling in love with his best friends baby sister. You feel the sadness as he wars with his head and his heart. It's a case of doing what he thinks should be right and what his heart wants. The way the story is told, it doesn't make Jacob seedy and you don't feel it's wrong. Sometimes you can't help who you love.
