Stood the test of time.
on 5 November 2012
This would be my 5th pair of Falmouth CAT's, previously has 2 pairs each of black and brown.
The most recent pair of black Falmouth's lasted just shy of 12 years. I had the replace them as they were looking too lived in (only by my wife's standards that is).
Questionable aspects of the shoes -
1. They are heavy shoes, no way of getting around that, with that comes a tough and reliable wearing experience.
2. The leather upper is thick so will take slightly longer to stretch and get to the shape required by your feet, this is definitely a point you want to get to as once you have got to the point where your feet just slide in you have no dying need to take them off, besides possibly taking a bath or not wanting to get the linen dirty.
3. As the upper is made from thick leather and if polished and kept clean will last a LONG time, the sole however is made from rubber, slightly harder that your average pair of trainers but still rubber so will wear according to your walking style. I had mine resoled once, not to the same CAT engineering standard but that did the trick for an additional year or two.
Overall, I'd recommend them to anyone who needs a decent looking tough shoe.
