I am no litery critic I read because I enjoy good books, this books falls into that catagorie. Kelly had a dream when she was little, this book tells of that dream. The highs and lows the ups and downs and even the dark times. Kelly wrote this from the heart, its gives a good insight to what any up and coming footballer may go through male or female. Kelly has two loves in her life to find out what they are you will have to read the book. I feel that this book is not finished and HOPEFULLY, she can add another chapter after London 2012.Once I picked the book up I found it hard to put down as you are with her through out. Well done Kelly on your book and what you have done for female football.

Now then, if you're expecting a tell all, juicy tidbits, gossip galore, private revelations you'll need to go elsewhere BUT don't be put off. This is, as it says on the cover, a footballers story. She is open & honest about her troubles with alcohol (which many, including myself can relate to) It is raw, emotional yet inspiring & positive. She is an inspiration to any would be footballer, male or female. If you have a dream, you can make it happen. It's not been an easy road as you'll see when you read it, by through grit, determination & natural talent, she made it.
Football fan or not, this an excellent read & well worth a go......It's just my humble opinion (";)

Women's football has had a rocky history over the past two decades. Although the story is generally a positive one, there have been dips - most notably the failure of professionalism in the UK and USA. Kelly Smith's story reflects the sport that she plays. On the whole, she has had a positive career - over 100 England caps, top goal scorer for her country, numerous club honours. However, she has also had patches where her career has been a struggle and she has had to overcome injury and alcoholism. This book is a good glimpse inside Smith's mind and reveals her thoughts at those low moments. The writing could be a little more exciting, the descriptions of matches in particular are a little flat, but this is far superior to Wendy Owen's women's football autobiography.

This is a fantastic book and is a must-read for any football fan. Its a very honest account from one of the all-time greatest players in the women's game. Kelly Smith is an English footballing legend who is known the world over for her natural abillity and skills on the pitch. She's written this book from the heart and it tells her story from her dream to play football, through the highs and sometimes extreme lows of her life, through to her success as a top female footballer.
