Review

"Read this book and you will never think about food, your health, or the world in the same way again. And we will all be better off for it." From the foreword by Mark Hyman, MD, author of The Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox Diet"

"Vani Hari is a crusader for truth in what we eat and drink. She turns her in-depth food investigations into a practical, easy-to-follow plan that will have you feeling and looking your best in no time." Frank Lipman, MD, author of The New Health Rules"

"Vani Hari is a fierce protector of our health and well-being and millions will benefit from her heroic deeds. It would be nearly impossible for someone not to lose weight and feel better after following these 21 habits. They are absolutely life changing and I recommend them to my patients and students of medicine." Joel Kahn MD, FACC, clinical professor of medicine, Wayne State University School of Medicine, and author of The Whole Heart Solution"

"Vani Hari is a fearless leader in a new food revolution. I'm in awe of her commitment to heal the world one bite at a time. In her book, The Food Babe Way, Vani wakes us up to the truth about our food, our health and our future. I recommend this book to everyone!" Gabrielle Bernstein, author of Miracles Now"

"[Vani Hari's] work is inspiring millions of Americans to get active and involved in pushing back against the overwhelming force of the food industry. If you want to bring transparency to our food system and improve the health and well-being of our fellow Americans then you need to join this movement." Congressman Tim Ryan"

"Vani Hari knows how to kick some serious artifice (a good name for Big Food brand!), and the kick-ees are none too happy about it. ... Vani and her all-volunteer 'Food Babe army' have caused loads of dubious junk to be taken out of our food supply that should never have been in it to begin with. Which is why every food corporation in America is asking their crisis management teams right now: Can this woman be stopped? Good luck with that." Ken Cook, President of the Environmental Working Group" --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Book Description

Please note that the following description is provided by the author/publisher of this title and presents the subjective opinions of the publisher/author, which may not be substantiated. The description does not express the views of Amazon.

The author/publisher writes:

Cut hidden food toxins, lose weight, and get healthy in just 21 days.

Did you know that your fast food fries contain a chemical used in Silly Putty? Or that a juicy peach sprayed heavily with pesticides could be triggering your body to store fat? When we go to the supermarket, we trust that all our groceries are safe to eat. But much of what we're putting into our bodies is either tainted with chemicals or processed in a way that makes us gain weight, feel sick, and age before our time.

Luckily, Vani Hari - aka the Food Babe - has got your back. A food activist who has courageously put the heat on big food companies to disclose ingredients and remove toxic additives from their products, Hari has made it her life's mission to educate the world about how to live a clean, organic, healthy lifestyle in an overprocessed, contaminated-food world, and how to look and feel fabulous while doing it.

In THE FOOD BABE WAY, Hari invites you to follow an easy and accessible plan to rid your body of toxins, lose weight without counting calories, and restore your natural glow in just 21 days. Including anecdotes of her own transformation along with easy-to-follow shopping lists, meal plans, and mouthwatering recipes, THE FOOD BABE WAY will empower you to change your food, change your body, and change the world.

"Read this book and you will never think about food, your health, or the world in the same way again. And we will all be better off for it." From the foreword by Mark Hyman, MD, author of "The Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox Diet"

Vani Hari is a food activist and the creator of foodbabe.com. In her work, Hari has influenced how food giants like Kraft, Subway, Chipotle, Chick-fil-A, and Starbucks create their products, steering them toward more healthful policies. She lives in North Carolina and travels around the world to speak about health and food awareness.

Bunkum, yet another scaremonger, with no medical qualifications selling "snakeoil"cures, i'd give it 5stars if it was under the heading of "comedy"

I've read this and most of it isn't relevant to the UK as the 'toxins' mentioned have been outlawed in this country.
It's an American book, written by an American for the American diet and has no significance here.
Several of the ingredients listed aren't available here either.

If you are looking for a do et book, find one that is more related to the UK and written by a trained dietician.

I thought I would see how far I could get through the "look inside" preview before I found something crazy. After skimming through the autobiographical stuff, pretty much the first sciency claim she makes under "My Wake Up Call" is "I couldn't believe there was... yoga mat and shoe rubber in my bread... Silly Putty in my French Fries". This illustrates the sheer stupidity contained in these pages, such terrible non-science that a Key Stage 3 student would be ashamed of. The idea that an ingredient in a food, that's found in some other non-food item, should therefore be dangerous and toxic is completely absurd. Water is an incredibly powerful solvent, oxygen is a free radical that causes fires and explosions. Sadly, people believe this rubbish and take on her advice and think that they're changing the world for the better by harassing companies to remove perfectly harmless ingredients because they happen to also be found in other non-edible products.

A lot of people are understandably worried about their health, and a good balanced diet along with plenty of exercise and a good night's sleep is essential. Unfortunately many people will find it difficult to weed out the ridiculous scaremongering that this book is littered with in order to find the rare idea that's actually worth listening to. Do yourself a favour and buy a health/diet/lifestyle book from someone who has some qualifications in the field and don't keep lining the pockets of this charlatan.

I would give it -5 stars if it were possible. This is basically fear-mongering and a lot of advice generally given by the author has no scientific evidence and in some cases, zero research. I would rather encourage people to take diet/nutrition tips from an actual dietician/doctor - somebody who has studied the field extensively; not from somebody with a background in Computer Science.

The one positive thing about Vani Hari is that she has a huge following of people who desperately want to change the world for the better. Unfortunately for them this isn't the book that will achieve that. I genuinely don't know where to start because there is so much unscientific, pseudo scientific and outright erroneous information in it. There's lots of comments about toxins in it, but with no mention anywhere about how the dose of something makes something toxic or not. There's plenty of comments about different chemicals being toxic or carcinogenic but with no robust evidence to back these statements up. Then nothing of any substance about truly dangerous chemicals like sugar or alcohol. Her actual diet has been accurately compared to a guide to anorexia because there are so many similarities. (Except the bit where she advises that you should bathe in pure filtered water.)

Then she also tells us not to eat GMOS because they are so dangerous, when anyone with two brain cells can check copious amounts of publically available research that demonstrates that GMOs are not only entirely safe but will be changing the world for the better, and saving lives in the developing world.

If only she used her influence and following to get people to stop smoking and drinking, exercising more and cutting back on sugar and salt then she'd really be doing some good. But then she wouldn't get all the $$££€£$ from her sponsors and affiliates.

Steer well clear.

My daughter had a copy of this and asked me what I thought as I used to write articles and book reviews for a health magazine.
All I can say is that this is the most ridiculous book that I have seen to date. This person has no knowledge about food, nutrition, how the body works, in fact no real knowledge of anything to do with science and biology.

She blathers on about chemicals: “There is just no acceptable level of any chemical to ingest, ever.”
So no water then, or salt or sugar or any vegetable or animal matter? Everything we eat is full of chemicals because all organisms, be they plants or animals, are made up of chemicals such as proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates and lipids.

An infuriatingly misinformed book full of scaremongering rubish.
