It was Karena's lifestyle that sucked me in. Living in a cabin with no electricity, apart from the noise and intrusion of the modern world for reasons all her own. I could -- and can -- relate -- strongly. I wanted to know why. And then there was a moose. Is it really possible to resist a story with a moose that snorts exhaust fumes?
I can't say this is Bobby's strongest book. There were some untold stories with various characters, like Karen's Dad, Otis, that bugged me, but, as usual, Bobby writes past any flaws to deliver a satisfyingly complete story in the end.
Let's face it. The romance genre is plagued with improbabilities. It's part of the fun. You know it can't happen, but you WISH it could. In this instance, this story could, for the most part, happen. And the people are supremely likable. Good characters always trump everything else for me.
I'm glad I didn't listen to myself. This was well worth the read, and I still find myself thinking about the characters. Especially the moose. ;-)
