My Grandson's desktop is not wireless and I have been using a power line adapter. Having upgraded to fibre optic to try and keep his speed high for his x box & computer games , I had fair success but occasionally the internet would drop out when he was in the middle of a game, catastrophe!!
Since installing this little dongle, which wasn't too difficult even for an over 70, I have had better speed with no disconnections and may it long continue.Who would have thought that such a little thing could bring so much satisfaction!

Now, for the problem other people might have. My old Wifi Dongle is 2.4GHz only, and due to the huge amount of interference from neighbor's access points, I couldn't get more than 60Mbps during peaks, and about 45Mbps on average. I bought this one, but instead my speeds dropped to peaks of 50Mbps and averages of probably 30Mbps. I was using an old router from 2016 (belonging to Hyperoptic, my ISP) that got here when the previous tenant signed with them. If you logged in to 192.168.1.1, you could see it offered 2.4GHz and 5GHz. But that was a lie! It didn't offer 5GHz after all. There was a problem with my router, and Hyperoptic sent a technician, who replaced it with a new model and told me that now I would get faster speeds with the new router because I could connect using the 5GHz band. I was like "wuuut? So, the old router did not provide 5GHz?". And indeed, despite it pretended to do, it didn't!
So, if you are getting bad speeds, make SURE your router does support the 5GHz band. Google it, and check the router's settings. If you are not sure you are connecting on the right one, it's easy to check it on Windows: right click on the wifi you are connected to > properties and check the network band.
Also, if you intend to buy this one to get better speeds using the 2.4GHz band, DON'T! If a simple and small dongle device was as good as a bigger and more expensive wifi adapter with an antennae, nobody would get the more expensive and less portable one. This works perfectly with the 5GHz band because it doesn't have to deal with huge amounts of interference, but in the 2.4GHz band it is kinda mediocre, as expected. Size limitations, there isn't much you can do there...

I pay for 150Mbps/150Mbps (although they deliver 160Mbps instead, and they are aware of that). As you can see in the speedtest, there isn't much loss there. With the ethernet cable I get >160Mbps constantly, while over Wi-Fi I get >150Mbps.
