I've been a big fan of abdominal ever since getting hold of some of his stuff with Format via my interests the Puma Strut label, real quality underground chilled funky hip hop, and that's exactly what you get here.
I'f you've listened to Music For The Mature B-boy then this is a real treat, a long-player which is more downtempo than it's predecessor but just as fresh.
The album lacks a bit of bite but thats what this music is all about, it kind of just floats around the room, inciting a really chilled atmosphere. There's some good beats and loops on offer as well as some really catchy tracks which are sure to get you're head noddin, which are just too cool for those people that sit around all day noddin their heads to MTV base etc.
The standout track for me is 'Elizabeth', compiling elements of raw, jangly guitar and deep baseline, with it's catchy lyrical substance, interelating in creating something which is mellow but yet bangin' at the same time, that's what it's all about
Fresh & Funky. Highly Recommended

MC Abdominal has tremendous skill, flow, vocab and wordplay. DJ Fase has Sweet Beats. Throw'em together and you get an Excellent Creative Hip hop album. Fase's beats are close to Jurassic 5's Cut Chemist & Nu Mark, but sway more on to jazz tinges (A tale of Two Bitties, Elizabeth) Cool. Highlights of the album are 'Fast Food' which the track chugs along like a train to Abdominal's Food for thought lyrics. 'The Best Posse Cut You Ever Heard' A nice line up of Canadian MC's showing Hip Hop Prowess, this is Fase's greatest Achievement on this album with a Hard, Slick snare and strings. 'Abcapella' is Abdominal showing off, although he has every right to display his Fantastic flow and command of words. 'Fly Antics' is great straight Hip hop awesomeness in the same vein as Abdominal's collab with Dj Format 'Vicious Battle Raps', Abdominal being as great as ever on the mic and Fase's inclusion of a few seconds of beatboxing and Scratching add a nice touch. Although, the feel of the album is solid and Great, i feel Abdominal's Maximum potential only comes out in 6 or 7 songs as i think Dj Fase's beats hold Abdominal back. Overall Abdominal is an Awesome MC with a freshness and one of the illest flows, but Fase's beats are sharp only on two thirds of the album. Also only 12 tracks including an interlude leave a gap making you wanting So much more. Still Mos DEFinitely worth buying just to hear MC Abdominal.

I won't go into too much detail, but i first heard Abdominal via Format's music for the mature b-boy.
Most of what i have to say about the album has already been said, excellent lyrics, excellent production, so why not 5 stars?? Because these guys just can't put together a good chorus/hook. When i say good, i mean they can't put together mediocre hooks, their just damn right awful.
Despite their brilliant ability to wreck songs with poor hooks the album is well worth a buy if u like hip hop which is'nt on the gangster tip, but i would'nt be holding my breath on discovering a classic album without too much coverage if ya get what i mean.
