I have recently aquired a taste for Hard Trance and Pyschadelic Trance, since going to my first squat rave. This album is from the vein of the latter variety by the very same person who brought us Hallucinogen and Schpongle.
This geezer is the dude!
Flock of Bleeps lacks the hard driving melodies found in his heavier work under the alias of Hallucinogen, and is more like the quieter soothing sounds of Schpongle.
The beginning of this album is very ambient with sweeping synths, indian incantations and melow beats. Causing music induced rushes and euphoria. And the voices on this album are simply beautiful, allowing you to float away after enduring the pounding beats of a mad night. The music slowly progresses from it's ambient start onto funkier vibes with a climax of harder psy-trance.
I highly recommend this album to all, from experienced trance ravers to saturday night puff heads or to those who simply like to sit back and relax whilst listening to beautiful music.

I got this on spec having come across OTT via Eat Static via Ozric Tentacles. Love them ALL but this more than any. There's plenty of rhythm, bass, sparkly bits, samples and sounds, but there are tunes in there as well. Stuff I can carry around in my head for the rest of the day to keep me going...

It's not repetitive, somehow Simon Posford knows just when to switch or break the beat and move to pastures new, which is something I wish a few other people would take note of.

For me there wasn't even a burn in period, I just got this straight away and I've been playing regularly since it arrived in the post two months ago. Sharing time with Posfords other incarnation, Shpongle.

Classy stuff.

Five years on and still sounds laughingly fresh. Vocals, melodies, rythms, samples, all produced to extreme perfection. Simon Posford, as with his Shpongle and along the likes of OTT, delivered yet again an instant classic. Pure ear candy addictively finding it's way into my system regularly for many years now.

Sometimes 10-15 Pounds is just a blessing!!

This CD contains some fantastic music. Wholeheartedly recommended to anyone who likes intelligent and inventive dance music. The first four tracks, up to and including album highlight Crumblenaut is an uninterrupted sequence of pure delight, interweaving voices, real instrumentation and samples with brilliantly-produced backing tracks. It's almost worth getting this CD for the crisp snare sound on Crumblenaut alone. In common with Shpongle and OTT, the rhythms are dubby and loose and the tone is light and pure entertainment.

Things slip a little in the middle of the album. There's a complete change of pace and tone, with four four-to-the-floor tracks that are much more straight techno/trance and far less remarkable for it. Many danceheads will like these, but personally I've heard too much of this sort of thing before. Time to skip to the end of the CD, where two shorter tracks, Safety Zone and the lush and ambient Bedtime Story restore the tone of the opening quartet of tracks and bring the album to a decent close. I would have much preferred a shorter and more consistent album, but the good stuff on here is VERY good indeed, and definitely worth getting.
