I recommend this book to anyone who has a desire to learn the truth of the awful experiences that so many of our elderly war veterans endured. Many are still alive, and still suffering their nightmares today.
'Flesh Wounds' treads similar ground to Piper's 'Into Battle' but is wider and deeper. It's quite possibly the most authentic account of war I have ever read- buy!
Having read a lot of non fiction on the battle for Normandy I can say that the book feels authentic and captures the feeling of troops and tankies fighting there.
