Celestine North lives a perfect life. She's a model daughter and sister, she's well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she's dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.
But then Celestine encounters a situation in which she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found FLAWED.

Meet Celestine. She has a perfect life, perfect boyfriend, perfect plans for the future, perfect family, perfect school grades - she is the definition of perfect in the eyes of the "Guild", she is, as was said several times in the book, a poster girl for the system of Perfect/Flawed people. Then one day on a bus journey, she makes a grave error that changes her life and calls the system into question, just what can be defined as being flawed morally and ethically? A question that is posed in the book and we hear both sides.
I really liked Celestine. At first, I found her a tad wooden and hard to empathise with. But as the book went on, she rose up there to be among the ranks of the Katniss Everdeens (The Hunger Games) and the Silver Blackthorns (The Reckoning) of the literary world. She shakes the system to the very core and makes people begin to question it. She's just a girl who wanted to do the right thing, and in doing so is changing the way society views its rules and leaders.
I'd recommend this to anyone who liked The Hunger Games, The Silver Blackthorn trilogy, the Divergent series, etc. Anyone who enjoys dystopian style novels will enjoy this book. A great read, and I look forward to moving onto the sequel.
But there's a dark side where the Guild makes lists of stringent Rules that must be obeyed and all citizens must comply with the Rules. All rule breakers are punished. One slip and 'offenders' are considered flawed and suffer. The leaders strive for perfection within the community. There is horrendous cruelty and manipulation, families of the 'flawed ' are victimised. There is not a happy ending but There are follow up books to buy.
It's any easy book to read and it was over too quick. I've just downloaded Perfect, to see where Celestine's fight takes her and if she finds Carrick.....
