5.0 out of 5 stars A Great, Non-Prententious Fitness and Healthy Eating Guide 26 May 2014
By NJ Girl - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I decided to download FitMeals by Sébastien Leria to read on my kindle while at the gym. I've been struggling with my weight loss plan, and came to the conclusion that all of the mixed messages I've been getting on proper nutrition probably weren't doing much to help me. When I read to the part where Leria references the “Know-It-All Syndrome.” prominent in the food industry and in fitness communities, I knew his voice would be one I could relate to; I'm sick of being given one-size-fits all generic nutrition advice that breaks a complicated matter down into something so simple that it is almost insulting.

In this compelling book, Leria aims to teach readers about learning about making their body an ally. He discusses the futility of punishing the body with diets, and has taught me a great deal about respecting my body with crucial knowledge about macro nutrition that I lacked before. Something finally clicked when I read about how my workout and eating habits were actually working against me. In making my body my enemy and starving it of proper calories before exercising, I wasn't properly protecting my lean muscle mass from being burned, and therefore have been making it harder to lose weight.

Everything in FitMeals is presented in an easy to understand and digestible format. He explains many things about a balanced diet that I am already aware of, but expanded upon some of the things I wasn't connecting to my lack of success, like how to eat around workouts, and how my body type may impact how I respond to exercise and certain types of foods.

The recipes he included are wonderful. They have fresh ingredients, and the finished product didn't taste like something I would think of as diet food, just normal, clean, fresh foods. After trying a few of the recipes, my body felt much more nourished and capable than I feel after eating more processed meals. The Spicy Chicken Avocado and the Beef Wraps are my favorites to have for lunch or dinner, and the Tri Choco Tasty Bars are great for breakfast or as a snack. I had never cooked with whey protein powder before!

I found this to be a really helpful guide and I am thankful for Leria's refreshing outlook on personal fitness and nutrition.

5.0 out of 5 stars You will love it! 24 May 2014
By Aura - Published on Amazon.com

Very good book with great instructions and explanation. The author does not write about crazy dieting or all other crazy things that other fitness books suggesting. Down to earth and possible to anyone suggestions. The book tells you to eat a well balanced diet which is awesome! I am a fan of balanced diets and to diet time to time is a very good thing if you want to have a healthy body. However, to have a guide on your diet journey is very important and this book is just what needs to be read through for this purpose. I am very happy that I found this book and recommend it to anyone who wants to get nice body and keep it for as long as they want/can. It is my guide for all my daily fitness work and diet now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Motivational no nonsense read 16 May 2014
By Louise Roberts - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Having gone through tons of rubbish fitness books I downloaded the sample to this one and was hooked. I downloaded it straight away and read it from cover to cover.

I really can't recommend this enough, it is like having a personal trainer on my kindle. The author is so personable and the whole book is written in a great friendly manner.

I love the premise of this book, the fact that the author doesn't push crazy dieting on you as a lot of books seem to promote not eating or cutting out food. Conversely, this book encourages you to eat a well balanced diet.

If you are serious about getting fit and healthy then this is the book for you.

Highly recommended.
