In this compelling book, Leria aims to teach readers about learning about making their body an ally. He discusses the futility of punishing the body with diets, and has taught me a great deal about respecting my body with crucial knowledge about macro nutrition that I lacked before. Something finally clicked when I read about how my workout and eating habits were actually working against me. In making my body my enemy and starving it of proper calories before exercising, I wasn't properly protecting my lean muscle mass from being burned, and therefore have been making it harder to lose weight.
Everything in FitMeals is presented in an easy to understand and digestible format. He explains many things about a balanced diet that I am already aware of, but expanded upon some of the things I wasn't connecting to my lack of success, like how to eat around workouts, and how my body type may impact how I respond to exercise and certain types of foods.
The recipes he included are wonderful. They have fresh ingredients, and the finished product didn't taste like something I would think of as diet food, just normal, clean, fresh foods. After trying a few of the recipes, my body felt much more nourished and capable than I feel after eating more processed meals. The Spicy Chicken Avocado and the Beef Wraps are my favorites to have for lunch or dinner, and the Tri Choco Tasty Bars are great for breakfast or as a snack. I had never cooked with whey protein powder before!
I found this to be a really helpful guide and I am thankful for Leria's refreshing outlook on personal fitness and nutrition.
I really can't recommend this enough, it is like having a personal trainer on my kindle. The author is so personable and the whole book is written in a great friendly manner.
I love the premise of this book, the fact that the author doesn't push crazy dieting on you as a lot of books seem to promote not eating or cutting out food. Conversely, this book encourages you to eat a well balanced diet.
If you are serious about getting fit and healthy then this is the book for you.
I love the graphics, the visual supports, and breakdown of information. I enjoyed reading it, I recommend it to EVERYONE who has a fitness and health goal to achieve. Thank you for this book - It has helped me tremendously.
