Impossible to get working and incredibly frustrating. There is clearly an issue with connecting this product to a host of routers. Fitbit's own forum has thousands of views against related posts and there is no clear explanation offered by Fitbit as to how to resolve, Just hundreds of messages across the internet with people guessing at how to fix. So returned it and will buy another brand.
I loved the idea of this scale to monitor fitness but in reality it was a massive stress and a complete wast of my time. It worked fine the first time i used it, connecting to my phone etc only issue is that weighing myself twice within 5 minutes it gave slightly different weight readings.
Day 2 i go to use it and it firstly registers me as a guest not as my personal profile and then will not connect to mine or my partners phone. I then disconnect it from my phone and try to re connect it and it will not register at all, thus a complete waste of time. Sending back on day 2.
I don't believe the fat content reading when it fluctuates...I can lose 5lbs after a weekend and my body fat percentage increases.i don't exercise on a weekend.. this must be water...unless I removed a limb. It synchs well and can distinguish multi users.
I have now owned two of these machines. The first one started to go wrong after about 10 months and the second after about 15 months. Both had the same problem. The issue reveals itself either in finding the batteries flat a few days after replacing them or noticing that the scale is constantly connecting to the wifi (this is what causes the flat batteries) My machine had very light use with only me using it and then about twice a month, so 24 times a year or about £4 per weight check!! I did what most people did and contacted Fitbit who advised cleaning the battery terminals, in other words they didn't have a clue what was wrong. I also checked the site at community.fitbit.com and this revealed that there were many more users with exactly the same problem. Folks with more technical knowledge than me identified the issue as cheap construction of internal parts leading to the failure and most if not all suffer from it. Fitbit are ignoring the problem and won't help. I would have expected a life of four to five years with regular use in a family household or double that in my case, so it was very disappointing. Please don't waste your money, there are many cheaper scales out there, buy one of those. If you do have to buy one, then pay a few pounds for an extended warranty if you can get one, you will be claiming on it soon enough.
Before getting this scale I was using a normal scale and writing my weight down on my notepad app on my phone. Putting in the date, weight etc. I have been doing this for years. I have found these scales amazing, they sync straight to my Fitbit app on my phone and log my weight, Fat level, and BMI . It is so good not having to worry about remembering what I weighed before I get to write it down. It is even better as I have a fitbit tracker watch too, which I have been using for years. My husband has even got into using the app as well and weighs himself on it. It is very clever how it knows who is who and does not give your weight results to anyone else which is important privacy to me.
