This is an incredibly simple piece of tech to set up, requiring only that you have a smartphone or a computer that can access Bluetooth. The device is managed through an application on your phone though you can get the gist of the details off the display on the tracker, though to get the full benefit of all the data it collects you will need to use your phone. After just a month of using mine I have dropped my resting heartbeat appreciably as it has encouraged me to move more.
I was already fairly active before I got this, though this has bumped me up a level and I am feeling fitter than I have done in some time, and this is after just a month of use!
Heart rate monitor
Excellent sleep tracker
Built in alarm
Intelligent exercise tracking
Reminders to move
Let’s you know when your mobile is ringing
Built in altimeter
You have to take it off and charge it up
Uncomfortable at first where heart rate monitor bit digs in
Strap is rubbery and not very comfortable
Alarm is not very subtle in my opinion and I dislike the noise
Overall, I do think it’s great, I only found it a bit uncomfortable at first and just got a new strap which solved the issue for me. If you want all of this functionality then it is worth getting one, but if you really just need a tracker to get you moving more you can get a cheaper one with less features that will do the job just as well. I really like the sleep analysis you get with this, and the software has diet, weight loss and water intake features if you want to track that.
You can access info on the screen by pressing the side button or tapping the screen which is very responsive. If you just want to see the time you lift your arm and rotate towards you, and the time comes up along with whatever screen preferences you have set up. This movement takes a bit of getting used to and at first may be a little stilted and look like you are ostentatiously checking the time but becomes more natural with practice. All in all this is a great item with excellent functionality. Tracks exercise really well.
My main problem is it’s inaccuracy at times. This afternoon sat as a passenger in the car, I was apparently adding a step every 20 ft.
Then this evening I walked the 20 steps to the back of the garage and back and no steps were added.
The increase whilst driving has been a reported problem now for over 2 years. The official answer is take it off, put it onto charge or use a 3rd Party app. PLEASE can we have a “driving” setting!!
Having competitions with your friends on the app is great and it actually makes me think more about walking than driving places as I can view my progress constantly, and I'm very competitive ! seeing how I sleep is Very useful especially as a university student that stays up late doing assignments 🙈
I suggest buying the screen protector for it as my screen has scratches quickly, but I use it every day around horses so this is bound to happen. And I have got through 2 straps in a year due to them breaking but again I use mine a lot and around horses so this is less likley to happen if you done own horses plus it's nice to have a change of colour from time to time ! And the amount of times I have dunked it in water buckets and this hasn't affected its use at all.
Overall I love my charge 2 was well worth the money especially if you want to start getting fit, I thought about getting one for a long time ( the cost stopped me) but I finally just decided to risk it and it was totally worth it !
