software works well.
Counts steps (which is what we want), calories, floors, miles; so all handy info.
Battery life is ok but... see con's
Battery - no way of knowing how much battery you have left unless you plug it in to charge or having your bluetooth on and view it on the software.
Screen scratches very easy - I bought some screen protectors but they just come off as the screen is convex.
Touchscreen - it is really bad, after all this time of owning it and having it on constantly (except when going near water) I still haven't been able to successfully cycle through the options without it not registering a touch.
But the worse problem is I am having problems with the strap. I woke up 1 morning and my watch had come off my wrist and the strap had come off that connects to the actual device (see pic). I didn't even know it could come off. I clipped it back in. Couple days later and here we are with it constantly falling off, and me worrying I will lose it. Not sure if the clips have bent? I don't know, like I said I didn't know they straps could come off.
Price - not sure what I paid but it was more than my withings that lasted 2-3 years, until the battery just completely died. This has lasted 7 months.
I'll try and contact fitbit support and see if they can help with the strap but I don't hold up much hope.
UPDATE Changed from 3 stars to 4, the fitbit support were fantastic. Couple days of emails back and forth, few pics of the strap and device and they are sending out a new strap free of charge. Fantastic.
When you look at the specification of the watch it is designed to operate between -10 and +40 degrees C. We have experienced temperatures in excess of 30 degrees C in the UK recently, and that is when my watch cracked. And unfortunately it is not a one off. I know of several people this has happened to.
Fortunately Fitbit replaced the watch without quibble (I upgraded to a Fitbit Ionic as this watch specification operated up to 60 degrees C). So I have absolutely to complaints against Fitbit. Except that when I enquired as to how often this happened they told me it was not a usual occurrence. So I informed them I know of several people who have had the same problem. They then said "Well yes it does happen. You aren't the first".
One person I know has just had a replacement Charge 2 due to the screen cracking, and her replacement has also cracked!
So as long as your watch is in warranty then Fitbit will replace it free of charge, or give you 50% off the price of an alternative product. If it is out of warranty then I'm not sure what they will do, but I expect they will still be liable to replace it as it's a design fault.
The sleep tracker works well and will definitely indicate if you have an issue with sleep or not.
The app is good for logging, although the bluetooth sync can be a bit slow at times.
The only downside is that he strap will fail within a year if it is used a lot. This is because the connector they use for the strap is very cheap and will tear from the silicon strap and then break. However you can pick up 3rd party straps for very cheap which seem to be higher quality.
The website is good and gives background & historical information
