Product Description

Fiskars single handed grass shears feature the ingenious Servo-System, which prevents the blades from jamming and guarantees non interrupted, efficient cutting. The ergonomic, lightweight design is comfortable and user-friendly, and the flexible cutting head, adjustable by up to 360 degrees, allows easier reach of awkward angles. The blades are made of hardened stainless steel and the handles of fibreglass reinforced polyamide.

Grass trimmers are made for large areas and have a definite purpose, but if you want a really neat, manicured appearance to your garden, consider the benefits of Fiskars single handed grass shears. Most importantly, Fiskars grass shears are designed to trim grass around shrubs and plants. You will have a lot more control with Servo-System shears, eliminating any potential damage to your plants. Keen gardeners prefer this type of tool because it maintains the quiet atmosphere, eliminating the noise of powered trimmers and replacing it with a quiet ‘click’.

A lifelong commitment to quality, this has been one of Fiskars' core values to which the company stands firm, having a holistic approach throughout its entities and throughout the products’ lifecycle. Delivering a quality end product is merely the basis that extends into top service levels for the consumer. When properly used and maintained, Fiskars garden tools shall remain free of defects in material and workmanship. Any exception to the rule will simply be repaired, replaced or substituted by a product of equal value.

I've edited this review after using them for a few weeks as a full time gardener and downgraded the rating after they have given up the ghost. They fell apart the other day and are unrepairable - and I certainly tried fixing them. The blades are held on with an unique allen bolt with a thick collar/shaft and spring that screws directly into plastic. Into plastic?

If the plastic had a metal insert for the bolt to screw into, they would have lasted a lot longer. After a customer loaned me some Wolf Garten shears, I'll be be buying those as they are much sturdier. The blades are not bendy and they cut very well all along, including the tip.

***** NOW FOR THE REVIEW FOR WHEN THEY'RE NOT BROKEN (which was upgraded to a five but back to a 3 star *****

As grass shears I was expecting something with somewhat sturdier blades and was quite surprised to see how flimsy the blades initially appeared.

They were purchased for reaching grass where the strimmer can't (or can - but will destroy your fence or flowers or hedges) and the tips don't seem to cut as well as I was expecting in the hard-to reach areas, but with practice they do most of the time.

For raised lawns with areas under shrubs/flowers etc that can't be strimmed vertically, it only takes a few seconds to trim a good few edged area of grass as lawn shears need quite a deep bed to work properly. They are also ideal for snipping away spent snowdrop, daffodil, crocus and tulip leaves in the middle of flower beds.

I take them on every job and am more than satisfied that they are up to the job because other manufactures seem frond of flexible blades too. I would fell lost without them now.

Needed something to trim round edges of lawn and trees etc. These shears are light weight and easy to use, and being one-handed make it easy to hold what you are cutting with the other hand. also useful for light pruning. BUT, they are not a heavy duty tool, recommended for light work only.

They are of excellent quality and well worth paying that bit extra. Finish very good. Have to bear in mind they do not suitable for any great thickness of "grass" and other garden items.

Lots of excellent reviews for this item. We purchased initially from Homebase but had to return as blades kept jamming. Of all grass shears, these are usually the dearest. They seem light, loose and flimsy but are quite good at snipping grass edges but anything too thick pushes the blades apart. We consider there to be a design fault in the handle. For some reason, the lower handle that is squeezed toward the top is bizarrely concave in shape. This means that it's a frequent annoyance that the palm of the hand is pinched when cutting, unless wearing gloves. There is little point in it being concave and it's surprising Fiskars have not modified the handles to avoid this issue.

I have to agree with other reviewers regarding the failure of this product.

There is a weak point around the pin and it snaps.

My first pair lasted about four uses. Fiskars replaced them with no quibble.

Unfortunately the replacement pair lasted only two uses until they also snapped in the same place.

If you catch anything other than grass blades you're in trouble. Both times a small twig has caused this issue which is a real shame because they are lovely to use.

I have no doubt the other replacement pair now on their way will also fail in the same place unless i cut grass with an eagle eye.

Being a bit of a fan of Fiskars i'm usually the firs to sing their praises and or customer service alone i'm very loyal to the brand. This particular item has a design fault. They will fix it in time with a revised version but until they do then i'd steer clear of this item.

Real shame.

Wish I'd bought from Amazon, as not only would it have been a little cheaper than the major supermarket I got mine from, but I'd have been easily able to return. A lesson! Actually, if all you're cutting is grass, they work ok. Get a bit of bark or a twig in the blades and forget it! As someone else noted, the lower handle design is very poor and I'm getting heartily fed up nipping my palm (or gloves) between the handles. Also, the lock mechanism is a royal pain as it's far too easy to engage while using the things. A strip of gaffer tape will fix that.

In terms of quality (and I have other Fiskars products) it seems quite flimsy. I expect it'll break soon which will be rather nice actually, as I'll be returning it direct to Fiskars not having the receipt for the supermarket purchase. In fact, the sooner this happens, the better.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer - I thought it was me being 'cack-handed'! I didn't find they cut any better than others I have unless I used just the ends of the blades to tip the top of grass, if that makes sense. Easy action though.
