I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but I wasn't disappointed , so all good. I like the idea of there being a sniper team that heads up this book, after all a Sniper is not a lone wolf. McBride is an interesting character, but maybe a little too normal for the suffering he's done; hey I'm no expert so what do I know. Over all though this was a good read and I have already got the next one so take from that what you will.

Bought this book on offer and for the price was worth it.
The story revolves around an ex marine sniper/CIA agent and his partner who get asked to help the FBI out when an agent is kidnapped. This soon turns into a manhunt for the culprits who then commit domestic terrorism.
The story is ok and the author keeps the pages turning. Never made me feel I couldn't put it down tho!
The main character is a bit wooden. Some of the conversations are stilted and one dimensional. You feel as if he is going to start singing Star-Spangled Banner at times! Some of the passages are a mutual admiration society between characters after they have only just met...not how real people are or talk to each other.
Would be better if the characters were less wooden, conversations and thoughts more realistic and less like a cheap B movie.
Overall not bad and hope the other books improve, tho if the second the same as the first I will struggle to continue the series.

Hats off to Andrew Peterson. The character Nathan Daniel McBride is a challenger to Lee Child's Jack Reacher. I am an avid Jack Reacher fan but at long last, someone has written five worthy books which will put to the test who I prefer as a character. I have to say, hand on my heart, Nathan McBride has won. What fantastic and great stories. Loved every single one of the books. Please write more Andrew as I eagerly await book 6! Well done you and keep Nathan going.

I was a bit sceptical at first about buying books with another 'tough guy' character, especially with so many out there, however, these books really surprised me. They were well written with characters that you enjoy reading about. A really good trilogy, will definitely look out for further instalments.

Cracking read. Starts like an athlete off the blocks and never lets up. No un-necessary descriptions and dialogue to fill the pages. Love the pairing of Nathan and Harvey and will look forward to more of the same. If you like fast paced thrillers then go and buy this one. Very enjoyable.

First to Kill by Andrew Peterson
Absolutely riveting!! A book that I found almost impossible to put down. Freelance snipers, FBI, cold blooded killers, this story has it all. A little gruesome, in parts, for my taste really but I must read the next book in this Nathan McBride series.

Excellent read. Andrew Peterson's deep knowledge of what it is like to be a 'sniper' in a war zone makes his 'storytelling' entirely credible and realistic. If I come across an author who makes me want to 'read more' of his 'work' then I tend to 'devour' the entire series. I am now looking forward to my next.
