If you are a `curious-by-nature' person and let's admit it, most of us are to a certain degree, then this is the kind of book you want to and should pick up.
There is nothing more interesting than reading about people and their experiences. And what better than an experience that most people have and on a very basic level we all relate to.
The writer then gives us an array of stories that will fascinate, pull on the heart strings and provides no end of food for thought.
It's also a book that will make you reminisce. No doubt you'll be thinking of your own virginity loss as soon as you have read the title but it'll invoke all the emotions experienced at the time and since. That in itself is extremely powerful and borderline genius of the author. She truly had an Eureka moment on the beach with her friend.
Part of the attraction of this book is that I had never come across the subject matter. Learning about other people's virginity loss and a view of first time sex over the varying ages, cultures and lifestyles is fascinating. Let's face it, it's not an everyday conversation but usually one reserved for our closest friends. So access to this very private subject in such an open forum without being lectured to works. Really and truly works.
I am scoring 4 out of 5 as I think there was room for more stories, from more cultures and backgrounds.
I anxiously await this brilliant writer's next book.
I found it very touching and witty with moments of sadness and joy in equal measures. A great read and I couldn't put it down.
Looking forward to this terrific writer's next book.
The author does a sterling job of collating these stories with a thoughtful and sensitive narrative that brings much-needed continuity and context to a very varied set of intimate, personal accounts.
Whatever your level of sexual experience, whatever physical or emotional barriers you face, you are guaranteed to find something in this book that will strike a chord and leave you with something to reflect on.
