This is the second series which brings to a close the short run of an engaging little series which deals with the pre-war friendships and escapades of Cleggy, Compo, Foggy, Ivy, Nora, Wally and friends. You gain an insight into how the characters develop into those we know and love from the 'Last of' series. Some of the acting is superb, with the actor playing a young Foggy getting the mannerisms and speech patterns spot on with the best performance of all in the series. Peter Sallis stars as young Clegg's father in this prequel and it is interesting to see him imbue this character with some of the latter Cleggy's character traits.
Engaging, charming and funny this is a must see for fans of 'Last of' and will engender fondness for it as a series in its own right.
