Was introduced to DF by a Canadian friend. A fortuitous moment indeed. You can see why he's won the Canuck equivalent of Grammys (as well as the John Lennon songwriting award).

This album interleaves the songs with their introductions, so quite a lot of talking. But his Intros are absolutely wonderful, and are either touching or very, very funny (or both), so I never skip them (which you can do easily if you want to because they are on their own tracks).

Well recorded, great quality sound and well performed (you'd not know that they were live).

Songs are first rate, he's picked a good selection of his earlier stuff, including the Waking Hour which won the Lennon award. I am not a dye-hard folk fan, but this is a gem — from the mellow to the livelier. I play this so often...

Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Warm Live Personality 16 April 2007
By Josh H-G - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Fans of David Francey will already know the songs featured on this CD as they're compiled from his existing albums. However, this CD does a brilliant job of showcasing David Francey's warm, funny, simple, and captivating storytelling and stage presence. I haven't seen him in person, though everyone i know who has claims him to be just lovely.

This is as close as i'll get for now, and it works brilliantly.

The music is David singing with his friend Shane Sampson on guitar, and it is a crisp, bright recording. The vocals-only Torn Screen Door is big and powerful, while other tracks are softer, or rollicking.

Excellent work from an excellent musician, and the personality behind it all shines through warm and gentle.

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS MUSIC! 18 Feb. 2012
By Bill Golembeski - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Well, I have seen David live! I love all his albums--but the songs come to life with his wonderful explanations. The guy just writes beautiful songs--one after another. And his voice! It has a bit of a edge in the live setting. Listen to his vocabulary! All of this from a construction worker, school bus driver--and most importantly--the keeper of faith in the human heart.

Buy all his music. He is a gentleman. He is a true original!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic CD demonstrates artist's talent 14 Aug. 2013

I just love this CD as you get a picture of the artist in how he writes his songs, the subjects and emotions. Being in the audience would have been the only improvement to listening to this excellent performance.

I like this guy. Again, another great find from Canadian radio.
