Have already read First Contact without the pictures and now have revisited it again. The pictures have made the story more alive but then th he story hooks you and draws you in.
Once started very hard to put down you just want to know what happens next!
This is the first book of a trilogy and there is another trilogy completed and then there is the third trilogy which is on going and about to be completed. This is a long journey but one that must completed to find things that are unanswered and yet throws up more questions. What if......?
This is one he'll of a story!

Not a challenging read. All the books in this series are a bit repetitive. There is nothing more to say

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm hooked! 24 Jan. 2014
By Kevin L. Freeman - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This is the first Michael R. Hicks novel I've read, and I've already added the remainder of the series to my wish list for future purchase.

I have to admit that while I'm always looking for a good scifi, I've found that most of the ones I've tried left me somewhat disappointed. This is not the case with this book! The story is intensely engaging, well written, and extremely well woven together, with complex plot development, but just enough small reminders here and there to keep me from having to flip back to remember who was who and how they got to where they were going.

The downside: there is a lot of strong language in this book, which I generally try to avoid, but when you're writing a realistic depiction of military engagements, this does come with the territory. That was my only complaint, and a very small one at that, considering.

Thanks for the great read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sci/i novel 1 Jan. 2014
By S.A. Martin - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Rarely do I read sci/fi, but the blurb for "First Contact" caught my interest. This was an exciting novel that caught my attention from the first. The author grabs you in with action from the first page. Interesting characters and again, lots of action. The only thing that kept me from giving this a 5-star review is that the battle between the humans and the aliens simply went on too long. I know that neither an author or a reader wants a quick resolution to a challenge, but this went far beyond what most readers would want, it seems to me. Even the Epilogue went on too long. Otherwise, an outstandingly written novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING!!! 23 Aug. 2014
By Giesterfarher - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This book has it all, fast paced war on a galactic scale, well written and interesting characters involved in exciting hand to hand combat as well as wide ranging space battles. More gratifying than all than that, it has an Alien aggressor that I like every bit as much as the Human defenders.
It's a rare thing to have an enemy with honor, and an even rarer thing to have an enemy that seeks to give you every opportunity to ensure honor for yourself.
This is my first book of this series, I WILL be buying the rest of them, and I foresee a lot of sleepless nights in my future. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding read! 2 Mar. 2016
By Patrice LaBossiere - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Every now and then I discover a "Can't put it down" book. This is one of those books.
As of this date I have read six of the books in this series. Each and all of these books are either a "Can't put it down" book right from the start or at some point becomes a "Cant put it down" book.
The entire series of books makes for great reads!
I read some of the books out of order and still I found each book a great read but, read them in order for a fuller comprehension of the story.
