As a collector of all things "Fireworks" this manual had been on my hit list for sometime, it's presumption is that you know nothing about the programme, and it's spot on there, this is for the beginner whose curious about delving into something a bit different (and easier) than the Photoshop suite of apps.
It's Illustration based all the way through, and idiot proof to the end, i know a fair bit about the programme so it wasn't relevant for the more intermediate user, but for newbies it's a great start.
Visual Learners FW 4 concentrates mainly on turning photo's/graphics into web graphics, adding special effects to images/text, modifying, manipulating/optimising and creating better images via Fireworks. If you use Dreamweaver as your HTML editor then this is the app... to get into, as they work hand in hand with each other.
So to reiterate, if your looking for a start in graphic basics, or just to understand the fundamentals behind it, and you've trawled Amazon for that first book on the subject, then you could do worse than invest in a copy of said book. I have 30+ titles on Fireworks from beginner to advanced, but as a starting point on the programme, nothing better's it.
