This cable is exactly what it says it is, and I am sure that a few people will be suspicious of it because of its very low price. Firewire = IEEE 1394 = iLink

I use this to connect my Sony camcorder to my HDD DVD recorder (also a Sony) and it works very well, the home movies I have transferred from tape to digital media have not lost any quality. The HDD DVD recorder is able to control the camcorder. The cable has the small end type connector of the firewire type connector and not the big end found on PCs or Audigy sound cards. This connector is also named iLink, which has an i symbol with a swoosh stripe through it. They are all one and the same thing.

In summary: this is a cheap cable but really it is all you need. If your camcorder has firewire and you use the usb port, I would suggest you look into firewire as it has wider bandwidth.

Bought this to use with an old(ish) camcorder I was given. No matter what I did and no matter what computer I used it on it did notwork!. The cabling is very thin and flimsy by comparrison with others and I don't know if this had a bearing the fact that it failed to work. Ended up buying a cable from a Sony supplier a bit more expensive though. That cable worked first time and did exactly what was expected. What I can't comment on is whether or not this company has good aftersales/returns policy as I've not been able to return the defective cable.

This cable was to connect my Sony cam to my Sony VAIO. It is a shame Sony stick to proprietary formats, and in future this may determine whether I invest further in Sony (mind you, they aren't as bad as Apple on this score). Arrived swiftly, very cheap. Thanks.

Tried to connect my Sony Z5 camera to sony vaio laptop but my camera was not recognised. The connection was loose so i tried a more expensive cable which worked straight away. The cable is cheap, feels cheap and for me useless.
