Brainstorm never disappoint. All their albums have something to offer, but "Firesoul" manages to unite all the best elements of their past work while pushing the band onward into unfamiliar territory. As usual, the band is led by soaring vocalist Andy B. Franck, who has one of the finest voices in metal today. This is still the same guitar-driven power metal you expect from the Germans but this material is more mature, thought-out, and involving than that found on their last disc, "On The Spur Of The Moment'". In places, this harks back to "Soul Temptation"; the choirs are there, the uplifting choruses, the dark, tortured lyrics. But there are better melodies to be found, more despondent soul-searching in tunes like "And I Wonder" and the glorious "Recall The Real". In all, this is one of the best melodic metal albums you'll buy this year, a must-have for power metal fans. Recommended.

A great German Power Metal band not that well known but they should be,this is the latest cd from 2013.Singer has a voice and sings rather than barking or screaming as is the norm today, hes like Bruce Dickinson kind of.Buy if you like Maiden,Priest etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars German Metal Baby..... 23 May 2014

Loved these guys for a long time. Great melodic guitar driven metal from a long running band. This album sees them back to form after a couple of middling releases. If you liked their middle career albums like Soul Temptation, Downburst or Liquid monster you will love this. I will own all their CD's no matter what, love this genre of Metal.

Do wish the 2nd disc was a DVD or blu-ray of the concert though since I will likely never see them live in Texas.

For fans of Mystic Prophecy, Firewind, Thunderstone, etc.... \m/ \m/
4.0 out of 5 stars They seem to get heavier and better with time also reinventing their genre of music 13 July 2014

Power metals long list of bands lately have been growing for quite some time, one band waving that genre of music is Brainstorm, these German metal musicians relievers the goods in this release, heavy riffs in every song which is their trademark. They seem to get heavier and better with time also reinventing their genre of music. This release is one heavy riffing Cd and they have been touring some time also,I hope they come to the U.S soon. Buy it you wont be disappointed!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the Brainstorm I know and love 31 May 2014

The only thing I like about this release is the Live cd. Other than that, I don't like any of the new songs on here. Don't get me wrong, I really like this band and have all of their albums, but the songwriting gets weird on this, just not the same catchy and punchy riffs and melodies from early albums. The one before this (Spur of the Moment) was better, but these last 2 cds are my least favorite. I understand that a band want to be multi-dimensional and give new identity to a new album that differs from the previous one but I don't like where song writing direction is going. Probably wont get their next release.
