Product Description

About the Author

There are a lot of eyes in Debra Anastasia’s house in Maryland. First, her own creepy peepers are there, staring at her computer screen. She’s made two more sets of eyes with her body, and the kids they belong to are amazing. The poor husband is still looking at her after 17 years of marriage. At least he likes to laugh. Then the freaking dogs are looking at her—six eyeballs altogether, though the old dog is blind. And the cat watches her too, mostly while knocking stuff off the counter and doing that internal kitty laugh when Deb can’t catch the items fast enough. In between taking care of everything those eyes involve, Debra creates pretend people in her head and paints them on the giant, beautiful canvas of your imagination. What an amazing job that is. The stories hit her hard while driving the minivan or shaving her legs, especially when there’s no paper and pen around. In all of the lies she writes hides her heart, so thank you for letting it play in your mind. Debra has a smattering of books in a few genres. There are two in the Seraphim Series and three in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series with a prequel, Poughkeepsie Begins in the near future. Fire Down Below is the first in the comedic Gynzaule Series. The second, Fire in the Hole, will be published in late 2015. The Revenger, a dark paranormal romance, will debut this summer. And last, a novella called Late Night with Andres is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. (So go get it right now, please!) You can find her at DebraAnastasia.com and on Twitter @Debra_Anastasia, but be prepared...

Mmm - I've pondered for a day on what to write as a review for Fire Down Below, I'm not entirely sure I've ever come across a book like it. I first came across Debra Anastasia on a YouTube channel where she read a chapter from Poughkeepsie (I recommend that book). I then took a look at her Facebook page. It was clear the minute the anti-blurbs were released for Fire Down Below that this was a book, and author, that I would enjoy - her sense of humour is just up my street! And I was not disappointed in the least. So what do we have with Fire Down Below... Dove is our female lead, a little geeky, uncoordinated and desperate for the affection of the equally geeky Johnson, a pharmacist who loves numbers. Throw in the mix an apartment block full of oddballs and you have the making of a wonderful, funny and very entertaining novel. Duke is Dove's very inappropriate friend. His antics will have you holding your stomach in laughter (or, if you are my age, crossing your legs for fear of your bladder giving away). There are some wonderful supporting characters, Ms Anastasia features as the porn writing pussy snatcher (I kid you not!) with a rather strange husband. For me, it was a book full of humour, a fast-paced and well-written story that had me rooting for a different 'pairing' towards the end. I laughed out loud at some of the antics these quirky characters got up to and I'm eager to read the second instalment. Highly recommended.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ! Oh and ha ha again! Seriously I haven't laughed out loud as much in like... forever! I am a huge fan of Debra and loved the banter between the sisters in Poughkeepsie so I guess it's only right I'd love this book!

This book has been such a gas to read and I have blown off so many engagements to breeze though it! And if that's not enough farting references let me just add if you are squeamish at any reference to breaking wind then this isn't the book for you!

I have also almost taken out shares in Tena lady (UK incontinence pad manufacturer in case you were wondering!) because I've howled with laughter the entire way through the book! Plus I am also thinking of investigating the purchase of some charcoal pant liners to send to Ms Anastasia - they are allegedly supposed to filter out the crap smell from farts - maybe she could consider buying a set for Duke in the next book - product placement /advertising opportunity if I ever saw one!

Anyway, seriously if you need a pick me up that will leave you in stitches and retching in equal measures then this book is for you! Otherwise I seriously suggest diving into this with an open mind! Crassness and s*** smells aside I'm totally left hanging for book two to hit my kindle! There is something more about this bunch of socially inept characters tha adjust not going to let me walk away!

An absolutely fart TASTIC five stars from me!!!

I laughed until I cried. Literally.

Debra had me in stitches from the first page. Dove and her one liner's were beyond fabulous but came in second place compared to Duke's vulgar behaviour - which, to be fair, became one of his endearing qualities.

The writing is top-notch, the plot actually believable, because as much as us females like to think that we aren't really this awkward, trust me, we are!

The characters are beyond fantastic. I actually found myself sinking into Dove's shoes and cringing along with her. Not to mention the sex scenes - holy hellfire, they were REAL as in as REAL as it gets. We've all be there, done that and cringed afterwards, but guess what? You'll have to grab the book and read it for yourself to truly "get" what I am talking about.

Debra, is just a fantastic writer that has created something that is so shockingly real. The book may have some inappropriate content, but that's the beauty about it, because life really is full of inappropriate moments.

If you like your books real, hitting the nail on the head, full of sweet sass, vulgarity and a male lead who you shouldn't love, but do, then this is the book for you.

This is in the top 5 of my 2015 reads so far.

Grab it while it's HOT!

I hadn't read any of Debra Anastasia's work before but knew of her Poughkeepsie books.

Fire Down Below is a good novel with a fair amount of humor. I did struggle with a lot of the american terms but it didn't spoil my enjoyment of the book.

I will be watching out for the next in the series :)

A Very funny book and unusual that the author has written 'herself' into the plot; however I have only given 4 stars as the book finished somewhere around 89% so not really value for money as I don't consider this a complete book. Book 2 out later in the year - I'm not sure whether to order it ?
