This is a book about Mairead (pronounced Parade), she is an olympic gymnast who is frankly off the rails. She is so utterly vulnerable and self destructive.
The story is a bit of a thriller as Mairead winds up in hospital after a sorry drink and drugs binge where her friend falls off a balcony and dies in suspicious circumstances. Mairead's behaviour on this occasion is 'off the charts dysfunctional' and she is filmed on a phone offering her virginity to the highest bidder.
Mairead is a New Zealander but is a long way from her home in Australia, she feels completely isolated until the arrival of James Vaughn, her chauffeur and bodyguard and the one man who can subdue and protect her.
This couple have had a professional relationship for the last 5 years but thrown into an extreme situation together the barriers that have dictated their friendship are broken down and something very good starts to grow.............but there is the camera footage, Mairead was too inebriated to remember what happened and too vulnerable and self destructive to accept that it may just not be her fault.
Thank you, thank you thank you Catherine Taylor I look forward to your future books
When I started reading this I thought great a spoiled brat who's gonna get her way all the time, but in fact she kept getting herself into trouble and the man she loved keep getting her put of it. I great romance in the end and a great read
The second half though suddenly upped a notch with a threat and it certainly wasn't funny.
It developed, although the premise was a little weak and then went off again as Mairead allowed herself to leave James, after saving herself for him and then other men entered the fray.
Mairead was immature and irritating. James controlling and to be honest not really very pleasant.
If you're offended by BDSM scenes then it's also not for you. I thought they were repetitive and didn't really help the story along.
For me it felt like there were two stories and too many subplots and I didn't really feel the characters motivations were explained.
