About the Author
Belinda Farrell graduated with a BA from the University of California at Berkeley and holds an Elementary Teaching Credential from Cal State Los Angeles. Trained in hypnotherapy, past life regression, NLP, Hawaiian chanting, and ancient Hawaiian healing (Huna), Belinda was also a precision stunt car driver for TV and films. When Belinda was forty-eight, she collapsed with herniated discs and spinal nerve damage. Threatened with paralysis by her medical doctors if she didn't have surgery, Belinda instead chose to apply the ancient Hawaiian healing practices she had been learning the previous three years, which are covered in this book. Her back completely healed, including childhood scoliosis. Belinda retired from stunt car driving and for fifteen years has been sharing these healing practices with others. She offers Reconnective Healing and Huna in Santa Cruz, California, and takes clients to Hawaii to teach Huna and swim with wild spinner dolphins.

Ms. Farrell has packed more adventures into her life than most folks do in three or four. Along with those adventures were great losses, great pain, illness, paralysis and, finally, great joy(s). No matter what barriers life handed her, she obviously simply picked herself up and continued moving forward. There is a great personal integrity in exposing how she came to write this book, and why it has obviously had great impact on her own life as well those of others.
Her discoveries of her own inner thinking errors, detachments from important feelings, judgements which only resulted in her own pain and hardship, are clearly and honestly exposed in this book. She is determined to do all in her power to point her readers to greater awareness of the magnificence of self, to the leaving behind of sorrow, sin and self judgement, opening them to a more glorious way of living. Her wisdom is not that of telling you what to do or how to live your life. Rather, she takes you gently (and *very* firmly) by the hand and guides you into looking at life with a different frame of reference. She knows that only *you* can find your own "friggin' joy", that it can't be given to you by anyone other than your self.
There is so very much in this book, I know I will need to reread it, coloured marker in hand. But I wrote this doing the HA breathing exercise. You'll have to read the book and find out for yourself what that is. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks, Ms. Farrell, you've helped me improve my life and suggested some new directions and tools.
