It is very approachable and has no assumed prior knowledge. Having said that it still manages to build each topic to a reasonable level.
I would also recommend the author's 'FT Guide to Investing'.
It aims to provide an easy to read introduction to the markets, and it certainly achieves that without too much jargon.
His analysis of the 2007/8 financial crisis is a salutary lesson in the hubris that can envelope largely unregulated markets . For the investor Arnold's 'Golden Rules ' are worth committing to memory .
A very good reference source to have ion the bookshelf .
