In the past I have never got on with a personal organiser, mostly because the pages were too small and hard to write on (the ring binder part always used to catch on my hand). The A5 size (the paper is A5 - the organiser is larger) is just right for me. It's smaller than the combined diary and notebook that I was lugging around with me, but large enough to write properly in.
The filofax came with a diary that spanned from the middle of 2010 to the end of 2011, with one week across two pages. The diary has a small notes section at the top LHS (above Monday) which at first I thought would be irritating, but actually has turned out to be very useful. The fact that the diary spanned from now to the end of the next year was also very handy.
In addition, there were 6 dividers (numbered 1-6), A-Z dividers plus address sheets, a notepad (with 50 sheets of paper) which fits into a slot in the back cover, a personal information section and a few sheets of dates/things for around the world (not all that useful to me; nor was the world map to be honest). There is also a ruler (which also marks 'today' in the diary) and a plastic envelope.
The only niggle (and it is a small one) is that there were just 2 sheets of 'to-do' pages, which I would have found much more useful than the 'clothing sizes around the world' sheets (that were filed in the bin). However, it is a small niggle.
Overall, I am loving this product and a number of work colleagues have commented on it with envy!
Since them I am a total convert of the closure, because it allows me to stuff so much in it!. I like it so much that I am going to buy me another one ( I wish they still made it in other colours like Violet!) to replace my Fusion A5.
It is light ( important when you are going to fill it all the way to the top!), it lies flat, and I actually like the material outside and inside. (My other Filos are all leather, but I guess with the larger one i discovered I prefer the lighter thinner Domino). And of course being A5 I can print my own inserts, as I am not fond of the standard diaries. I just buy A5 paper and punch it with my Rapesco personal/pocket size punch ( by marking a line on the punch to aline the holes and punch 3 holes on the top and the 3 holes on the bottom of the page). Also printing and laminating own dividers is fun. :o)
I do highly recommend this Filofax!
I normally use leather Filofaxes, as I love the feel of the leather and the durability. I ordered the Domino because I had seen someone else using one and thought that it looked really smart. It arrived really quickly.
The outside actually looks and feels like leather - these isn't that synthetic sheen that you might expect. The elastic that surrounds the red binder is the same pale grey as the stitching and the lining. The binder opens flat, despite the elastic. It feels soft when handling - the binder is not as floppy as the Malden, but is firm enough to make notes in when it is on your lap.
Inside, the lining looks and feels like pale grey suede, with attractive (but subtle) stitching details. There is a vertical ID pocket at the top, and 4 credit-card sized slots on the left, plus a further 2 horizontal slip pockets and a full-height secretarial pocket. At the rear of the binder, there are slots for an A5 notebook. The binder comes equipped with an A5 diary, a selection of other papers including To-Do pages, and a set of cream-coloured dividers plus a plastic fly sheet and a plastic pocket.
All in all, a great binder, and it is now one of my favourites. Now I'm thinking about ordering the black one too...
Very pleased with this and would recommend
