2.0 out of 5 stars Poor book, in fair condition 13 Aug. 2016
By Joe Gillis - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Poor book, in fair condition. The book is organized haphazardly with no definite beginning to the movies covered and little to no insight from the author as to the quality of the films. But I love Norma Shearer, so I took the chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful copy of a wonderful book 14 April 2015
By Michael McCrann - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Beautiful copy of a wonderful book. I have the hard cover and wanted this version as well. Great dealer and fast safe service. Norma Shearer is a neglected figure in film history. All this nonsense about her only getting roles at MGM because of her marriage to Irving Thalberg is crap. Her three best performances (Marie Antoinette, The Women and Escape) came after Thalberg's untimely death. Yes she got some plum roles but she performed them admirable including Romeo and Juliet. Smiling Through and The Barretts of Wimpole Street reveal a wonderful actress. Do yourself a favor and give Norma Shearer's film a new look. Even her swan songs We Were Dancing and Her Cardboard Lover are charming.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Find for a Great Actress 23 Oct. 2015
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I have quite a few "Films of ..." or "Complete Films of ..." for many actors and actresses. Although extremely famous during her career, Norma Shearer is not exactly a household name today. I found that this book contained all the bio info I needed as well as obviously the compilation of all her great movies. This particular book has been fairly hard to find in the past, so I was glad to grab it at a reasonable price. The quality of the book was fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars For a fans of Norma Shearer, this is a must have book.. 10 Jan. 2007
By Lisa M. O'hanlon - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I bought this used, and the quality of the book printed thirty years ago was perfect. There were a few nicks on the cover, but the pages with all the content was perfect. Unfortunately I can't see this book coming back into print anytime soon, so odds are one has no choice then to buy it used. It provieds an ample amount of pictures of Norma Shearer, her films, and a lengthy biography, along with the standard cast, crew, and critics notices (on the films).
