I am using this filament with my Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus which has a Micro Swiss coated nozzle installed. I won't be using this with a brass nozzle due to it's abrasive properties. My printer is fitted with a glass bed so I have found the best settings for my printer are:- Temps 210/70 and at a speed of between 60 & 80. Within the speed range I get really good results but if I go either side of these the prints are not as good.
The filament is much better than I thought it would be and have had no issues with it at all. Would I recommend it? Yes if you a coated Micro Swiss nozzle. I wouldn't recommend it for use with a standard brass nozzle unless you are happy to keep swapping them out when they become worn. I will be buying more of this for sure.
The photos show a calibration cube and handle for a prop gun printed at 195ºC hotend and 55ºC heated bed on a Creality CR-10. From a distance, the handle looks like a light wooden part. Up close I can see a little under extrusion - nothing a bit of tweaking can't fix in future.
I used pritt-stick for the bed to do the calibration cube and found it very hard to remove once cooled. I needed to melt the glue with hot water in the end, so this filament seems to act like wood as far as PVA glue is concerned. I used hairspray for the handle, which worked perfectly where I've had inconsistent results before.
When trying to feed the element in to the extruder I noticed it does feel a little more brittle then normal PLA's. Care should be taken when feeding it in and in your positioning of the reel, particularly if you have a Bowden extruder like the CR-10.
I've bought some more SUNLU filament, hopefully they are the same quality as this filament.
Anyway. Baby groot printed last night (12 hours) and looks great. The supports pulled away without leaving scars and overall I am happy.
My next roll of wood fill may not be Sunlu as 8 want to try others but I do want to try other Sunlu PLA because of the print performance.

I saw this on discount and thought I would give it a go as I always want to try printing wood. The printing temperate stated is 190-220C. I tried varying the temperature within this range and it does not change the colour of any layer at all. This is my first disappointment (but I can live with it).
Then the print came out with a few layers which are poorly stuck together and broke very easily. I thought the temperature at those layers might be too extreme. This is my second disappointment (ok, but I can still live with that).
Last I tried printing at the constant temperature of 195C (usual PLA temperature) and gave it an overnight run. This morning I had less than 1/10 of the print done and a clogged nozzle. I will have a job of clearing my hotend (luckily bought some spare nozzles).
Given that I still have 1kg of this stuff left, I may still give it a go after cleaning my clogged nozzle. It gives the sweet smell so I believe it is real PLA.
I like it so much I've ordered another spool of filament, albeit in white, from the same brand to try out.
That's the good. Now the bad.
It's about as much wood as my socks are. The filament feels ever so slightly bumpy pre-use, however the finished results are just brown PLA.
I've used other brands of wood filament and the results are much different. By different I mean better, more wood-like. This stuff just isn't, it's low wood fibre content works against it and the end result really is just like a normal brown PLA.
So if you want a good filament, this stuff really does print well, I'm impressed with it's performance.
If however you want something with a wood-like finish, well I'm afraid just stop looking at this stuff and go look at a different brand. Because as a wood filament this just doesn't cut it.
Where it shines, however, is in its post processing. Get a little bit of sandpaper to clean the outside after printing, a few layers of wood stain (pictured is dark oak stain you can get off amazon for a little over a fiver) and clear varnish to give it shine and gloss and you get some of the best looking prints.
I find that when printing wooden figurines, nice results can be had with 2mm walls (3mm top and bottom) with no infill. Gets that hollow wooden carving look and feel. Tree supports in Cura (under experimental settings, not normally visible) are your best friends with this too.
