To start with, I will just say that this book KICKED ASS!!! It seems like I've been waiting for Andrew to receive his comeuppance for so long, nothing could match that expectation, right? WRONG! This book not only matched my expectation but it surpassed it too.
Andrew has been the villain that we all love to hate. Yes, I've felt sorry for him but he also annoyed the hell out of me with his 'poor me' attitude. Yes, life sucks sometimes but that's not reason to turn to the big bad and betray your brothers and family. So, yeah, I loved to hate him.
Emma, on the other hand, has been nothing but delightful. She has helped each of the brethren with a piece of jewellery for their mate, as well as being friends and family to all.
There was no way that these two could or would make a happy couple! I was wrong, so completely and utterly wrong. Julia Mills has written Andrew's story with such finesse, such style that I immediately felt sorry for him and mad at his brothers and fellow guardsmen for not giving him a chance, thereby completely wiping out the fact that I've hated him for six previous books and was firmly on their side before starting this book.
I loved the developments of the characters and their story which I shan't go into as I don't like giving out spoilers. And trust me, it would be a spoiler for this book because it was absolutely fantastic! I will give out a tissue warning though - this story had me in floods of tears for the last 15 minutes and I had to go back and re-read the whole thing again, just to make sure I hadn't missed anything!
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book and am so happy with the ending as it will lead to more. I admit it, I'm greedy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
This was an emotional ride, as we see Andrew battle for survival and forgiveness; witness Emma embrace her hidden self; and a few more surprises along the way. It was always going to take a special, strong mate to tame Andrew and bring him peace and he has found that in Emma.
It was an intense and emotional ride. Julia Mills got the mood just right for Andrew and Emma's story.
