Although this book gets very technical very quickly, it's written in an engaging enough style and is clearly enough illustrated to appeal to the interested layman as well as professional fighter pilots. I particularly enjoyed the frequent quotes from various aces across the years and the narrative dogfight descriptions.

The most extensive and complete analysis of aerial combat I have ever seen. A must have for people who would like to geek out on the tactics of 'dancing in the air' no matter if your interest is WW1 or modern fighters.

This book is very informative, but quite technical. It has everything an enthusiast could wish for, but is not for the casual reader. However, it's worth the effort.

A classic book that every pilot has to have in his library. Quotes and abstarcts from this book have formed what modern Air Force pilots read today in the squadron.

Heavy book to read, but very insightful..

This book won't teach you how to fly, it will teach flyers how to fight.
Contrary to other reviewers here, I did find the quotes quite chatty, and the tone overall not that dry or textbookish, but then, I am very interested in the subject matter.
The subtitle mentions tactics, and there is rightly little in the way of grand strategy here.
Very highly recommended for anyone interested in the tactics of air to air combat.
