An incredible read! I wanted to read this book for my own issues around my sports, and my mindset with my self doubt..... however in reading this amazing book it has totally changed how my partner and I speak to our children — both WHAT we say, and HOW we say things in front of them. It may seem obvious as a parent but how Hazel talks about it in the book made me really think back to things were said to me as a child, perhaps it’s why I have some self doubt??! As a result on changing our approach our son has made amazing progress with a speech issue he was struggling with. He has completely changed! We loved him all the time, but we’re falling in love all over again.
So not only had this book assisted me, but also my 3 year old son..... who without Hazels advice and the way she has written I wouldn’t have implemented the changes. Thank you Hazel. Highly recommend this book xx
I generally find it hard to get into self-help books. I always find myself scoffing at every line, smug in the belief that a book will never be the solution. Not so with FIGHT. I read it in three days, and have found myself recommending to friends, colleagues and family. This book has finally given me that “aha” moment... I hope it does the same for others.
I absolutely loved this book. It’s well written and very interesting. Whilst I am already familiar with the concepts in this book, it was written in a way that I still learnt new things. I recommend it to all of my colleagues and clients. Well worth a read.
Hazel's Gale's story as a boxer is fascinating and frames the book which is full of really practical and helpful exercises for reducing self-sabotage. And there are excellent recordings to listen to as well. I highly recommend it!
I love this book too! I am lucky enough to have worked with Hazel Gale and anything she writes is worth reading. This book is a game changer. It is helpful in so many different ways. I cannot recommend it enough!
This is the first time I've felt compelled to write an online review for anything, because this book really is that good. I picked it up by chance at Foyles a few months ago, and have slowly been working my way through each chapter since. It's definitely not a book to plough through, but rather something that takes time to digest and work through over some months.
The author introduces key concepts and tasks slowly and in a way that isn't too overwhelming, and writes in an approachable and down-to-earth manner. She mixes scientific research about how the mind works with personal anecdotes, which helps to relate it to my own life. She's also included helpful summaries for each chapter and all the tasks, which makes it easy to go back and review things. I also like that she doesn't promise any miraculous transformations, but gives you the tools to take control of your own thoughts and feelings to incrementally build up an internal resilience that will weather life's storms.
I'm so pleased that I stumbled across this book, and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to make a positive change.
I heard about Hazel Gale’s mind monster theory and then realised she’s also written this book. This book is easy to read, written by someone who appears to “have been in the shoes of fear” and who does not come across as a theorist. It’s easy to follow, the exercises really made me think. Being a procrastinator, I actually found myself doing the exercises and remembering what I’d done, which is a first. I thoroughly recommend this book for anyone who is questioning whether they are good enough. It’s an excellent tool and an easy read.
I love this book. It is inspiring, challenging, entertaining but ultimately has very powerful in helping you let go of stuff that is getting in your way of creating more of the life you want. I totally recommend it for anyone who thinks they can be their own worst enemy. You can change that with this books help.
I have read many self help books in the past that explore the power of the mind - but none have explained it as well as Hazel has in this book. She uses science and studies to back up her explanations but has written the whole book in such a beautiful way that it makes it SO hard to put down! It has seriously changed the way I think and has helped me use my mind as a beneficial tool on a daily basis. Highly recommend !!
