Product Description

With 5 albums now on Sub Pop heres the debut album at a very very nice price !! Remember Beck before his career devolved into magazine-pleasing genre exercises? These guys have the same bent, rustic perspective on popcraft, and a heap of ambition. - Marc Hogan, Forged in the USA s indie stronghold of Portland, Oregon, Blitzen Trapper are one of this year s most exciting leftfield discoveries, with a sublime UK debut that s a delight from start to finish. Another MySpace success story, Blitzen Trapper are the first signings to new independent label Good Time Folk after a recommendation from fellow Portland musos Viva Voce led them to the band s home page. If Field Rexx is anything to go by, they were ripe for the picking. Inventive, inspired and truly original, Field Rexx renders broken-down country, folk, pop and psychedelia with banjos, guitars, Jew s harps and the odd twist of funk sass (check out the fat bassline on Love I Exclaim for proof). With echoes of contemporaries Beck, Wilco, Elliott Smith and Eels, Blitzen Trapper can be placed firmly in the lineage of West Coast pop theirs are warm, sun-soaked songs with a sense of humour and a lot of heart.

A good album from a much under rated band. Billed as Alt-Country but really there's a lot more to this band than that.

If your one who likes to buy an album and expect a certain genre to stand out this may not suit you. For me Blitzen Trappers volatility keeps their albums fresh and every time I listen to them I find myself surprised by the different arrangements I hadn't recognized before.
I would say their sound is original pop/newgrass, rock, somewhat country?
If you love the all over the place style of Cake or The Gourds you should dig this.

This is a great album but if your checking them out for the first time I think Furr would be a good entry album.
