Picking up where their impressive debut 'Breaking God's Heart' left off, the London-based three-piece deliver yet more stories of love, lust and liquor. With a sound and style akin to bands such as Violent Femmes or The Smiths, Darren Hayman's lyrics explore the nitty-gritty of lovelives with unflinching detail, and it results in one of the most honest and heartfelt records of recent times. Those who want chirpy pop should look elsewhere, because 'The Fidelity Wars' is one of those late-night records to comfort you rather than get you dancing on the table. And when it's a record containing such gems as 'May God Protect Your Home' and 'I Stole A Bride', it's a mighty fine one at that. Dissecting the remains of failed relationships has rarely sounded so good....

Hefner have the quintasentially british quality, that they can make the saddest moments of life funny, and never was it more evident than on this album. Songs of heartbreak and despair, that cant help but make you smile. Highlights for me are the sensational 'hymn for the ciggaretes', the epic 'dont flake out on me', and the hilarious yet tragic 'I love only you', but this is a perfect album, not one song goes amiss and It makes me so happy to listen to. Genious

I bought this album when it first came out and i still keep returning to it. I tried to get a few of my mates into it but they were too steeped in britrock and americana. I'm sure that through time this album will get the recognition it deserves. Love, loss and lust have never sounded so good.Hefner can be softer than Belle and Sebastian and rock louder than Oasis. Discover this album keep the secret to yourself but tell everyone.
