This is the first menage book I've read that had a disability in it, but also the first one that really truly worked for me when it comes to a married couple adding a third.
The two men had a past that had blown up, but when they meet again all the feelings are still there not to mention they are both hot for Liam's wife, Ivy.
The way the story played out was really interesting, there were twists and turns along the way that kept me flipping the pages, not to mention the chemistry between the three of them... Whew..
Although I can say that I wished there were more scenes between the men to show that they were committed to each other, not just through the past, but even with Ivy around. I've also never heard of a bailiff wearing suits, so I think they was likely an oversight by the author. And I highly doubt after a year of no therapy someone would advance as fast as Liam seemed to (or that he'd still have rippling abs).
However, I can say these were all little things and in the grand scheme of things, the book was really great and I can't wait to read more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
The characters are all strongly drawn and some situations believable and sympathetic.
I find difficulty in accepting that a disabled man asks his friend to go to bed with his wife. While he watches. The men have themselves had a physical relationship years ago while they were students, but kept it quiet. Now the wife is just expected to go along with the men who appear to be using her to suit themselves without giving her a choice. I wondered why, when this lady had such good women friends in town at the knitting circle, she didn't ask any of them for advice and support. This may be a wholly private matter, but I can bet most women who have not been worn down would have no part of it. Still, we may say it's better than anyone cheating.
Each reader will have to make up her or his mind. I've liked other romance stories by this excellent writer a lot more and recommend trying some of them.
Ward has been out of town for a number of years working as a logger out West and obviously running from something in his past. On his return home to take over his sick fathers logging company and while staying with his sister he encounters Ivy who he feels an instant connection and attraction to which his sister soon dismisses by informing him she is the wife of his friend Liam. He also learns that Liam has suffered a severe accident as a fellow logger and is now confined to a wheelchair. Liam’s name conjures up a number of feelings in Ward that he tries to ignore.
Liam is not coping with his long term injuries at all and has become angry and embittered by the turn his life has took, logging was his life and he was set to take over his family’s logging business, something he no longer envisions. His marriage to Ivy is falling apart due to his reluctance to accept any therapy and his depressive state. Poor Ivy is working to keep them afloat following Liam’s accident but she is quickly running out of patience with Liam and their situation.
However once Ward picks up the courage to visit Liam things begin to change for them all. Old feelings that Liam has kept hidden even from his wife come back in an instance and when he quickly picks up on the attraction between his wife and his ex-lover a plan begins to form in his mind as to how he can save his marriage and ensure his wife is satisfied.Read more ›
