First, the book takes us on an insightful journey through the development of Fever-Tree, led by the company’s founders; Charles Rolls and Tim Warrilow, before introducing us to the equipment, techniques and ingredients required to make the delightful drinks recipes to follow. It is these recipes, the contributions of bartenders from around the globe, that really make this book stand out from the crowd. These are not the average recipes found in so many other books of this type. As might be expected from a book produced by Fever-Tree, a premium brand which, itself, came into existence, primarily, because its founders refused to accept ‘average’ as an option, these recipes are among the very, very, best we will ever encounter.
Although purchased, primarily, because of a love of Gin, the book’s recipes are extremely diverse, featuring recipes for Bourbon, Gin, Rum, Tequila and Vodka, all featuring Fever-Tree’s developing range of premium mixers.
So, to address the question posed at the outset...Do we really need to buy this book? Absolutely! With a recommended retail price of £15.00, this represents great value for money. At Amazon’s reduced price of £5.99 (At the time of writing), it is an absolute steal. For less than the price of a Gin and mixer in a favourite bar, we are introduced to, and seduced by, the intoxicating realm of the world’s best mixologists.
